I will continue using FIN after any HT work I have done in the near future. Surprisingly I had a 2.5yr break from it, and did'nt lose too much ground. However what was significant, was that my existing hair minitaurised quite considerably and that really did effect its appearance.
However after approx 6mths back on FIN, the thinner hairs became increasingly thicker.

Play with DermMatch before actually needing it for work or going out. Remember, less is more as it's understandable you don't want a painted on look.

As for your desire not to shave down the recipient area, if you're really looking to thicken up the hairline and it's thin already, you should be able to get away with not having to shave the recipient area.
