Considering Transplant

Hi
I have researching possible treatments and reading lots of reviews and blogs about hair transplant surgery. I am a 34 year old Aussie, single, and looking for a boost in confidence.
My hair loss has been slow and after sending a few pics away to a few surgeons I have been classed a Norwood 3. Surgery in Australia is expensive and I am thinking of having some work done by Dr Pong in Thailand. He has suggested I may need 2500 grafts and has answered a number of questions for me. First impression is good.
I have read lots of reviews and he seems to be very good. I have a couple of concerns about the surgery most notably the scar that will be left on the back of my head. There are a few scars there already after 20 years of football but the donor scar after surgery looks quite long. Also I am a little worried about returning to work. I am a carpenter and spend long days in the sun and dirty environments. Do you think this will be of concern? I will take a few weeks off after surgery.

Hi Oaklands, welcome to the forum.
I've not seen too many results of Dr Pongs online but the ones I have seen looked good. If your worried about a strip scar maybe Fue is a better option for you.Working in your type of enviroment will be fine a few weeks after surgery, however if you go for strip you will need to be careful if lifting heavy objects.
Hope that helps.

Hi Oakland. Are you taking any medications to maintain your hair? I would estimate 1800 grafts for you.
Dhi in Greece are offering a free surgery for the tight candidate, maybe worth a look. Here is the link to the thread.

Hi, I looked at the thread. thanks for your reply. I do fit into what they are looking for. I may spend some time researching this. How do you know how many grafts I may need? Are you involved with the program?

Not involved at all. Just giving you my lay persons opinion looking at your picture and thought the offer may be of interest to you.

Hi Oaklank, a member named Josh from Australia went to Dr Pong but he has not updated for a while, I replied on his thread in the patient section to see if he is still around.

Thanks Bigmac

I am somewhat worried about the scar as I would like to keep my hair short at the back. Are you able to offer your opinion on FUE?
Do you know of DHI in Athens?

I like FUE and FUT as both have their place. You look as though you are a candidate for either option so it's really down to what you prefer. If you are worried about a strip scar then Fue is the way to go.Dhi are posting good results on the forum with some patient posted results and feedback. Ask them for some referrals, maybe there are some in Australia you can chat to.
Have you looked I to Meds as you may be a good responder, there are members in the meds section who have regrown enough hair in the frontal region to put off having a HT.
