Hi all - my first post here.
I went for a hair transplant consultation with Dr Ball today at the Maitland clinic after really struggling with my hairline, something that really impacts me psychologically. I was really impressed by him but sadly I didn't get the news I wanted - he did not recommend a hair transplant for me because my donor area is quite small. He said he wouldn't suggest seeking a second opinion on this and that a hair transplant could end up making my hair look worse.
Instead Dr Ball suggested I take oral minoxidil for 6 months and then oral finasteride, claiming I have a decent amount of hair on my head behind my hairline and could thicken it up by taking meds. I have read a few scare stories about both when taken orally, and wondered if anyone had any thoughts or suggestions as to next steps?
I was really hoping for a transplant and feel very sad and dejected. Any opinions or comments really welcome.
