Divine Herbal Hair Oil - good results but plateaued at month 4!

A bit late posting but here goes.. about 3 years back I started using a product I ordered over the internet that was randomly mentioned online (can't recall where) and its odd name stuck, I did my research, eventually ended up buying a bottle. Shipping from the UK cost a LOT to where I live (the US) I think it was about $18 (!!) which was nearly half the product price itself!! Thankfully they've reduced it a bit but still it is expensive! Anyway it came with a money back guarantee so I went ahead and splurged. I have straight very dark brown/black hair and keep a center parting. My hair has never been particularly thick. I noticed specifically where my center parting is, I could see my scalp showing whenever I was coloring my hair and held a mirror above my head to get the dye application right. Otherwise it was never in my line of sight or obvious to me. I used the oil for about 3 months and I was surprised to see that center parting of mine was more hair and less scalp on show. The thickening continued a bit more into month 4 and then after that it suddenly plateaued!! Stopped! No further thickening, even after using up the whole bottle and 1 more after that. I would've liked to see a bit more thickening but it didn't happen and I've no idea why (I was using it exactly the same as before). For those want to go down the 'natural' route I still think you could do a lot worse than this. I never tried Minoxidil so I can't compare it to that, but I did use Nioxin, L'oreal serioxyl, Viviscal, Act Acre and some other (non minoxidil-based) products whose name I can't remember, before using this, all with limited results or none whatsoever. This was by far the best of them.

My question is...is it worth switching over to Minoxidil or trying something like spironolactone to 'complete' the results. I feel I'm 80-90% there but just want to push for that 10 more. Or is there a chance I might lose what I've already gained by introducing one of these? I'd hate to lose my gains so far, as I've no idea if the oil would even work a second time around!? Is it possible to use both together (oil + Minoxidil or oil + Spironolactane)? Obviously at separate times, I'm aware Minoxidil is not gonna penetrate with an oil sitting on my scalp! So for example Minoxidil AM & PM, oil for a couple of hours in the day, then washed out. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, I would also suggest that the photos can really make the difference..

Sorry just seen responses. I've only ever shared these once that was on a review site some years back. Not too sure how they'll help determine what's right for me to use next? but sharing as requested. Start, week 12 and week 16, no further thickening after this. Anxious to hear your suggestions for what I can try next/suggestions from my original post questions! TIA!

The first picture is under harsher lighting than the next two. However, it does look like your hair improved. Maybe just to stick to your regimen for now and see how it goes.

That's just it, I don't have a regimen right now because I don't know what to use. The oil worked so far as the 3rd picture down, it never thickened beyond that, even after using up a second bottle of it.

One year update... I decided not to go down the Oil + Minox and Spiro route in the end, mostly because of how complicated it might be trying to juggle all the products. Add to that not knowing which of the 3 is working, not to mention the cost involved! Eventually I tried out another product also from Divine herbal called the Boosting Treatment. Although it hasn't quite filled in the 10-20% I was aiming for in summer of last year, it has got me close to that stage (maybe half mark) and I've come to the realization that that's good enough for me. I started it in February of this year and the bottle lasted me until almost September. It is a bit sticky so I mix it with the Divine Herbal Hair oil and apply them together. Realistically if you use it on its own, then one bottle is not going to last 8 months! 3-4 might be more realistic. Both the products are definitely worth a try, especially the Hair Oil which I'd say was the main one from the two that improved my hair condition and texture, as well as regrowth. Boosting seemed to help with growth and thickness more when the oil results alone had plateaued.

I’m glad it has sort of worked out for you. This can be a long stressful journey and I’ve had nothing but problems with my hair all my life

Sorry to hear that. I agree it is very stressful! I'd suggest get extensive bloodwork tests done (if you haven't already) to find what the underlying issue might be.
