Shipwrecked,

Can you give a little more detail; age and what length your hair is cut to? Your hair looks like the sides are faded. (Cut shorter around the ear region) is this the case

My hair is not thick in the areas where yours is short at the sides, not because their is miniturisation but because its less dense, most peoples hair is less dense there too, some thinning around your ears is common its called retrograde alopecia,i have this.

The area at the back of your head that looks thin in the photos is my opinion the shape of your skull, the length of hair and the light,i have never seen anyone to have miniturisation in the traditional strip donor area.

Hi hairhunter im 34 and have been battling with hairloss for 10 years plus::;mb

My hair i got cut today and when the barber passed the mirror round the back saw it a little thin, though he usually blends a grade 1 at the bottom then gradually goes into a grade 2 evenly all the way round(so starting from just above sideburns to nape grade 1 and inch or so then into a grade 2,but the sides you see that look faded are not as he doesnt fade the sides before the ear where it seems miniturised.

Does that help your opinion, imput please?;ss;

Hi mars, thanks for your response looked at your link page your hair looks good and no sign of retrograde alopecia(which i have never heard of)

Do you have a link of some photos of peeps with retrograde alopecia OR anyone else can add?

My hair at the sides is thinner but all the way up befor the ear and around the ear also more left side than right.

Miniturisation does happen in the donor strip area though but is rare i hope ot to have this.

Fire any questions away please

And anyone else have any input or questions as worrys me a little.

At 34 with very minimal hair loss and good quality donor at the back you should not worry. Everyone's hair on the sides has less density.

I think it looks as it should for the way it has been cut by your barber. :)

Your hair looks good to me, if it still concerns you i would take monthly or quarterly pictures to compare.

Try not to worry about it.

Dear shipwrecked,
Donor hair miniaturization is a rare but documented phenomenon (due to various reasons including DUPA).
However, the only way to be sure about it is by a trichoscan. Or, put simply, taking high resolution, extreme close up pictures of the area. If you do not have access to professional doctors who can do it for you, I would recommend you take pictures with
1. a high resolution digital camera,
2. with the macro mode ON so the picture is not blurred, and,
3. take the picture as close to the scalp area of concern as possible.

I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any queries.
Regards,
Dr. A

Thanks for the responses so far

Maybe worrrying a little as most guys on here do about there hair, just that ive seen a few different reputable HT docs and have had conflicting opinions on my donor

One said i have 20% minituriastion

Another says 7-8% miniturisation

And another said i have 6% with a potential of 30% in the nearish future

2 others were not docs but reps and one said yeh no problem and the other said i have to much hair (im a nw3) wait as could get shockloss(though the two didnt measure donor density or donor miniturisation) just looked by eye

Hard to know if im ok with such conflicting opinionsc;;9

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this or has a similar story/heard etc

Thanks again peeps
