Hi guys, my hair transplant is booked for next Tuesday the 29th September with Dr. Acar of Cosmedica in Istanbul. Just looking for advice from people who have already been here if possible.

1. When I get to Istanbul airport am I right in saying I should go direct to there transfers office and they will arrange transport to hotel?

2. What like is the hotel they put you up in?

3. Should I have my hair cut short before I go?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks. The clinic has been a bit vague in emails so far!

Hi Steven,

I had mine done with Cosmedica. When you go to the transfers, as directed by e-mail, they take you straight to the hotel.

2. Hotel is perfect for your requirements post surgery. Clean, quite basic, but not bad at all.

3. They shaved mine at the hospital. The staff are all very friendly and the hospital is very clean. It might seem like a bit of a gamble but you will be fine.

Hey!
I'm booked in with the guys at Cosmedica in a couple of weeks time!
I've been reading up on them and I've heard nothing but good stuff. Especially from this website!
How was your experience Steven?
Cheers!

Hi mate,

I had a great experience with Cosmedica. The whole process was so simple and straight forward, honestly cant really fault any part of it. I had approx 3000 grafts, I was in and out in 6 hours or so. I'm 6 weeks post-op now so I've hit the ugly duckling phase, cant wait until around the 12 week mark when I should start to see some proper growth. Good luck with your operation I'm sure you will have a similar experience to mine!

Thanks for the reply mate!
Sounds like the procedure went well for you. I'm getting excited and nervous about it.
I've read so many good reviews about the end results of going to this place but I've heard so many people have problems with the procedure itself.
Did you encounter any problems yourself? I've read about how no one speaks English, the false quote of grafts, etc.
If there are any tips you can give me, it would be much appreciated!
Cheers,
Luke

Yeah it is a clinic that definitely produces good results, that's the main reason I chose to get my HT carried out here.

I honestly didn't encounter one single problem the whole time I was there. I couldn't believe how smoothly everything went from me arriving at Istanbul Airport and meeting the driver to take me to the hotel to the staff at the clinic getting me a taxi to take me back to the airport to go home.

Not all of the staff speak English that is true, but is not really a problem in itself as there is a lovely girl who works mainly as a translator who is always on hand to help. She was never far away throughout the whole day. The doctor on the day I was there also spoke English to a reasonable level.

When I sent my pictures via email to the clinic away back at the beginning of the year they quoted me 2500-3000 grafts, I asked after the operation how many grafts I had and was told 3000, so they were very accurate in what they said right at the very beginning. Shortly after you arrive at the clinic you will go into see the doctor and discuss your new hairline and then the doctor will mark it out. I wasn't happy with the hairline the doctor drew at first as I felt it was too high so after a short discussion he agreed to lower it. I'm really glad i did, so make sure if your not happy with the hairline that is drawn at first that you speak up!

On the day of the operation i was told we would be picked up at half past 8, in the end up it was after 9 before the assistant from the clinic came so don't worry if your still sitting in the hotel at half past 9.

There will no doubt be 3 or 4 of you going for HT's on the same day, so its good to have company and not be going through it yourself. Unfortunately i was with 2 Spanish guys and a Mexican so they didn't speak a word of English!

I cant really think of any other advice to give, if you have any questions about any part of the procedure then let me know and il answer them. Definitely try the kebabs in Istanbul, they are absolutely tremendous! As you walk out the hotel turn left and there is a small restaurant on the left handside within about 50 yards, i went here for a kebab both nights.

Hope the weather is better for you when you go, it was absolutely torrential rain in Istanbul the whole time i was there so i didn't get to see much of the city. The plane also had to circle the airport at Istanbul for half an hour until it got permission to land due to there being a thunder and lightning storm in Istanbul at the time, that wasn't a nice half an hour on a plane so hope you don't experience the same!

Definitely recommend getting it done, i cant wait until my new hairs start coming through. With the price you pay you cant really argue with it, i priced it here in the UK and was going to cost me approx £10K. Whereas going to Istanbul i got it for less than £2K and will hopefully end up with a good result similar to the others that i have seen from the same clinic!
