Early Stages of Hairloss help

Hi

I am 31 year old male.

For the last few years my front hairline has been thinning. I can still just about cover it up and I am desperate for it to not get any worse.

I have been reading up on line and I see mixed stories about taking propecia.

I see that I can get this within the UK from reputable online pharmacists and I am wondering whether to give it a shot.

As far as I can tell I have no other locations with hair loss issues other than at the front.

Is propecia likely to help with this and should I also look to complimenting this with Regaine?

As no one else in my family, even going up many generations, seems to have this issue I wonder if there could be something I am doing to my hair to cause this thinning rather than standard genetics - I wash my hair everyday with standard head and shoulders shampoo - I assume that this could not cause it?

Any advice would be gratefully received!

Thanks a lot

Satch

Hi there welcome to the forum. You have come to a good place to gain knowledge and advice. If you are in the UK I would personally try Proscar over Propecia as it is a lot cheaper over here. It is essentially the same active ingredient but means you have to cut the tablets into smaller pieces and take one daily.

Some people do get varying degrees of side effects so I would research them on here, but for the majority of people they are minimal to none existent.

As for the Regaine it will help maintain what you have but is not supposed to be as effective at the hairline.

Head and Shoulders is a strong shampoo in my opinion some women use it to strip their hair of colour before they dye it so I personally would switch to a milder shampoo if I was in your shoes.

Warm wishes BN

Hi thanks for the response.

How easy is it to cut these tablets and is everywhere online (the well know pharmcists) all ok to get it from?

If I switch shampoo then is there anything particularly mild I could try?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Pill cutters can be purchased very cheaply on eBay and it's very easy to do. Regarding the shampoo I personally like the American Crew classic daily shampoo....I buy mine from eBay.

As for Proscar/Propecia it can be bought off here as well as many other places but I get mine on private prescription from my GP.

Hope this helps.

I have had a scout around and it looks like most online pharmacies will only issue propecia for hair loss - is this correct or am I missing something?

Thanks

Propecia is certainly more popular for the online pharmacies and they charge the earth.....Proscar can be obtained......I would have a word with your GP if I was you.

As Bullitnit says pill cutters are very cheap to buy or you can cut the pills with a knife.

Propecia/Proscar has a very good chance of working for you.

Have you any pictures of your current hairloss situation.

Here are some photos I have managed to take - my hair is a bit of a mess at the moment as I am reluctant to get it cut - this doesn't really help the situation!

There definately looks like there's hair loss. Currently, the best chances of slowing down the progression of hairloss is through the meds - finasteride + rogaine foam. Most HT clinics will advise you to at least try it for several months. If you find it doesn't work on you or you get side effects, then you and the clinic will know better on how to treat you. Best of luck.

i think You are going to be bald.Over 70% of men and 30% of women will go bald at some point.Keep track of your potential hair loss by taking regular pictures of your scalp and hairline to check for any changes. The main causes of hair loss are stress and a poor diet.Reducing stress factors and improving your health are the most effective methods to prevent hair loss.
