Hi all, I have been lurking on this forum for the past two weeks and have read plenty of interesting information regarding hair transplants, many thanks for the info.
Ok my case, I am a 25 year old, black Londoner and have lost hair on the crown (in one area of the crown I am actually bald) and my hairline has receded. The hair loss began about three years ago. In my youth I opted to use hair dye, various chemicals and braided my hair, and I was told these things may have contributed to my hair loss. My grandfather was bald and I have never met my father.
I have opted to shave my head and was not too fussed with my apparent baldness; however following the infamous Wayne Rooney transplant I have began to delve into the possibility of getting a transplant. The Fue treatment seems the best for me, as I am fond of shorter, shaven hairstyles so having a scar at the back wouldn t be too great for me.
Now as I am of African descent I have afro hair, so I am wondering if the procedure will work or have the same results. Also how many hair transplants may one need to get the desired results? I have come across patients who have been under the knife three and more times, is this the norm? If the hairloss is genetic, is it worth getting a transplant?
Belgium and America seem like best places, has anyone had any experience with Dr Raghu Reddy in London? he claims to be experienced in operating on Afro hair but I have yet to come across any of his patients. At the moment I am toying with the idea of a transplant, and I m trying to do as much research as possible. I do not have any pictures, as my digital camera has broken and the camera on my phone is useless, but would really appreciate any feedback and help from the forum.
