We know our hair has a natural cycle where it grows, rests and sheds. Apparently the rise of pregnancy hormones slows down the shedding part of the cycle, which means during pregnancy your hair will have never looked better. However all good things must come to an end and once hormone levels have returned to normal, so does the hair cycle and a few months after giving birth you will shed the hair you would do normally plus the hair you accumulated during the previous nine months. For most women, although you are technically losing hair, in reality it's returning to whatever your version of 'normal' is, hair-wise. The good news is that once your hormones have settled so will your hair, it just takes a bit of time. However, sometimes the fluctuation in hormones can mean you lose a little more than you would do normally and your hair starts to look a little thin.
