hallmarks of a good surgeon

Hi

I was wondering if there were any objective criteria that you could use to assess the quality of a hair transplant surgeon. I appreciate that you can look at 'before and after pictures' of hair transplants but I imagine a surgeon can showcase their best results and hide their disasters.

Are there any societies or guilds that a reputable surgeon should be a member of?

Are there any procedural details that are hallmarks of a good surgeon? This is slightly more obscure but as an example I was told that a good surgeon shouldn't use adrenaline during the procedure as it is unnecessary and increases the risk of shockloss. I've also been told that the gauge (width) of the incision equipment used by the surgeon shows their skill level. The details I have just given may be incorrect and I'm more than happy to be corrected if I am wrong.

Many thanks for your help

I think the answer is to look through the forums... and pick the surgeons that produce consistent good results....

Patients who document their HT's from before and right up until the end result are good examples to look for, there are plenty on this site..

Yes, I agree that some surgeons would "show case" their best patients.... but the top surgeons don't need to do this..

The important thing is to find forums that are unbiased.... believe me that there are plenty of forums out there that are biased towards certain surgeons.... money is their main objective rather than the well-being of patients....

I for one have great respect for this forum as its proved its unbiased and only here for the good of us guys. There is plenty of information on here to be able to make a good choice of surgeon and steer anyone away from the "butchers"..

Hope this is of some help

Tim

Post op surgery care is a vital statistic not usually taken into consideration.
