Harley Medical Group - I'm very nervous please can someone advise me?

I've just spooked myself by trying to research the surgeon I'm supposed to be seeing for a consultation in two weeks. He is Dr Mabroor Bhatty from the Harley Medical Group.

The name of this clinic came up through word of mouth and I had a Zoom consultation and have now booked a face to face. When I came to research, specifically this forum, I cannot find any info at all about them or the Dr! I looked him up on BAHRS and he is a full member. I'm really spooked now and thinking I want to cancel the appointment and contact the Farjo clinic instead.

The main appeal with Dr Bhatty is that he told me I would not have to shave my (long) hair before the procedure. Whereas when I had a procedure with Dr Farjo 5 years ago I did have to shave first. Is this a red flag?

Thanks for any help.

You’re only having a consultation, no need to sign up there and then. Ask to see results of his work, ask to speak with patients if possible.

What is your hair loss situation now? What did this doctor advise over the zoom chat?
Have you any pictures you could add?

Thanks for the reply! Yes I paid £100 for the consultation I'm not sure if I can get that back if I cancel but it could be worse, as you said I havn't signed anything else yet or thrown much more serious money at it. I have some photos and it's hard to tell because it looks better or worse depending on lighting and zoom (eg the two from yesterday look very different) but I do think I've got it stable over the past 5 years with dutasteride and minoxidil. I think due to this I should be ok for the foreseeable future if I get a FUT on the crown. I just hope it can be done without shaving but on reflection that isn't a good enough reason alone to choose who I go with.

I've spoken to Farjo clinic after I made my initial post and I'm going to consult with them as well as for what's best.

Dr Bhatty has been around a long time but finding his patient results is difficult. He seems to specialise more so on cosmetic surgery such as breast argumentation. Quite a few clinics do charge for consults. Transform or Harley medical group have always charged as far as I’m aware. Having stabilised your hair loss is good. Did you see an improvement once you began your hair loss regimen?
You have quite a bit hair in your crown which is good. Looking at your pictures I’d say up to 1500 grafts would provide decent coverage in the crown. The doctors will give a better indication when you consult with them.
Shaving is preferred but I think you could have it done with the crown hairs trimmed short. This is how I had my crown repair surgeries. After 10 days I sprinkled a little hair fibre on it and no one was any the wiser. I had FUT also.

Good luck with the consults.

Hi mate so u had a procedure with dr farjo on crown ??
So u are just bald on crown ??
What meds u on??
I recommend staying on meds for now
Know u dont want to hear this but if u have a shorter style it would make crown look thicker maybe put fibres on it
Dont worry if u lose the 100pound

Yes I had a zoom appointment with Dr Bhatty 2 months ago and he did mention that he did not specialise in hair but it was difficult to get many questions in because he spoke very quickly and jumped from one topic to the next. I could not find any info online about his history of hair procedures besides a post on this forum from 2011 from someone also looking for the same information.

Hi! No I had some work done at the front with Dr Farjo in 2015 with good success. I have a large widows peak which he did not really touch but I think I'd like that filled in as well. I take Dutasteride daily.

And yes I use the fibres they are great! Trouble is I stopped minoxidil because it makes a mess of the fibres, so I'm hoping to restart that if I can get a crown procudure and no longer rely on fibres. Here is a photo with them (ignore the messy bed hair!)

Ok u hairline looks good
Erm i recommend just stopping the monoxidil all together,i think its just a pain in the arse using daily
Stay on the meds and having a transplant on the crown area
Still think u should cut hair shorter through as it makes areas look thicker, but up 2 u on that one

It’s your choice if you decide to keep the appointment with Dr Bhatty. You could ask to see if they will cancel and refund the fee as you’re providing plenty of notice. I would want someone who specialises in hair restoration to do my surgery.

You could look into oral minoxidil or use the foam. The foam dries quickly and actually helps to style your hair. Then add fibres once dry.
