Help! Thinking of getting a hair transplant.

Thanks for that. Yes, I was quite surprised when Dr Bicer said she wouldn’t treat me. I’m on finasteride and have been for a couple of years. Not sure what to do from here really. She implied a transplant could ruin things ‍♂️‍♂️

To be honest, I’d be happy keeping it where it is but having it fuller! I’d be worried that lowering it might look odd..?

Many here are going to say to you your hairline is fine which it is. The way you wear your hair I don´t see the issue for wanting to even do anything. If you had your hair brushed back and your hairline was exposed maybe easier to understand. But with your wavy hair and style even if you had a transplant it wouldn´t make any difference to your look.
If you were to have one, maybe you would change the style.
I’d not lower the hairline either. Just keep it where it’s at and strengthen.

Would you say these lads are thinning? I’m always interested when I see long hair on slightly thinning lads, like myself. Makes me feel better! Although, they do seem to have less loss than me….

Apologies for the misunderstanding. It is true that finasteride only prolongs baldness. Some people do tend to have further baldness even when taking finasteride but that is a certain percentage. Also, before taking finasteride, one should try it for a couple of months to observe if there are any side effects from the medication and accordingly decide to take it or not.

They may have some thinning but not enough to be of concern.
As I said earlier, I would not lower the hairline, there really is no need. The thinning you have is minimal, many guys would be happy with your hairline, so it’s down to your personal preference.
You're on Finasteride, there’s a possibility minoxidil could improve your hairline but as it stands I’d say you’re ok to get surgery to strengthen the existing hair.
I quickly drew a line showing how I’d keep your hairline as is.

How’s your research going? I think the line I drew is appropriate. Your don’t look to have thinning behind the hairline. If no thinning, then you only need to address the areas we can see in your picture.
A hair loss prevention regimen could maintain your hair for a very long time.

Research is going well, but the decision is a hard one to make! The doctor I like (as a person) the most is not very well known! I’ve spoken to people he’s worked on and they are very happy. I’m also sucked in by the fact he’s the cheapest, by a long way! I do have a budget!
I do, however, want the assurance of being in the most experienced hands possible..

If it bothers u u can have a transplant but i dont think u need one
Notice one side slightly higher than other but thats normal

Depending on what country you’re having the HT costs will vary. If someone in the UK or Belgium were offering it for 2G but others are 10G as an example I would give the cheap option a miss.
I think you need minimal grafts because your loss does not look bad.
Have you any thinning behind the hairline that we can’t see?

It looks like the tinning is slightly behind too. I’d say around 1500 grafts would provide a result you’d be happy with. This figure may increase once you’ve been seen by a doctor.

Hi all…. Right, I’ve booked in with Bruno Pinto, in Portugal. He’s suggested 1800 but will assess properly on the day…..
I do wonder if he will decide to lower my hairline slightly…. I have a few random hairs lower down which suggest my hairline has moved back a few cm. That’s what’s always bothered me! It’s made my forehead look big. I think recession looks cool, as long as the hairline remains strong. My hairline has just moved back and gone really thin…
I suppose thinning and receding are two different ways people loose hair..?

For what its worth Dr Pinto will be able to tell you exactly where your original hairline was. He could see where mine was originally but we couldn't go down to it now as he said when your skin ages and loses elasticity it shall start to stretch. my hairline originally sat right above my frontalis muscle but as my skin has aged and dropped slightly if we were to put it back where it was it would now be just on that frontalis muscle and every time I frowned my hair would move.

Don't worry about it he is going to spend about 2 hours just talking to you about what you want and then planning it with you. Anything you want that he doesn't agree with he shall explain why. If what you want is possible he shall do it no bother
