Hi guys, recently came across this website and joined up. So im looking into get a hair transplant. Pretty scarey stuff at i want to get it done right of course.

i live in scotland, but i have been reading about Dr Farjo in manchester and have heard great things about him.

what do you guy recommend ?

I receding at the front my crown is fine. attached is a pic.


also any ideas how much you guys think it will cost ?

any info and help would be great thanks

Are you on any medication to prevent further hairloss (Minox/Finasteride)?

You have a similar hairloss pattern to me at the front, but your density is better than mine. But before you decide how many grafts you need, you need to ascertain how much further your hairloss will continue with or without any preventative treatment.

There are many clinics on here that will answer your questions if you forward them various PICS of your hairline/donor areas etc.

Costs vary from Clinic to Clinic, by visiting their websites your financial query will be answered.

Farjo is certainly a safe pair of hands and has hundreds of documented cases online.

But the best way to determine a good clinic is months or even a year or two of research. Im 18 months down this road and its taken me this time to make a decision. Although i have not yet booked a HT, i know whom i am choosing.

Also dont limit your choice of Clinic to the UK.

I have been started using aclepin shampoo and liquid. i actually bought some minox used it for like two weeks and then stopped as i thought it made it worse. Should i keep using it and see if it helps ?

So what clinic are you going to go with ?

See thats the problem, i dont want to go and get a hair transplant then 5 years down the line i need another one ! dont want to go on Propecia as i heard it has side effects and dont want to take that risk.

It take it you are 28?

Great advice there from Coopman.

Shedding is common when using minoxidil for the first time. Stick with it, it's a good product for most people.

Also give finasteride a try - small doses at the start though whilst you assess if you have side affects.

As stated, don't limit yourself to the UK. Look at clinics in the Brussels area, and clinics on the Eastern coast of the USA which can be reached direct from either Edinburgh or Glasgow. I live in Scotland also, and went to Belgium.

Your forelock (the area at the front/centre) still looks like it's strong. Looks like you just need some temple work done. It'll be a relatively small procedure. If you submit your photos for consultations you will need to provide more angles and higher resolution photos to ensure that an accurate assessment is possible.

You say you don't want to have more than one procedure. You have to realise going into this that a second procedure is something you could need in the future if your hair loss progresses.

If you don't get your loss stabilized you will need more than one operation for sure. You should try Finasteride at a small dose like Modenese suggests.

Hey guys thanks for all the info and advice. Yeh my hair is still pretty thick at the front, its just the crown areas that I need to get sorted. Yeh I have thought about that, getting a HT and then my hair gets worse so will need another.

I have filled in some online consultations, with more pics so will have to wait and see what they say. Still waiting for a reply.

Couple of questions, say I get some work done at my crown areas, if I don't take any medication, could I still lose hair at those crown sections ?

Also I was check out the advance hair studio, Shane warne used them. Have any or you guys used them or heard any good things about them ?

If Advanced Hair Studio produced great results with their strand by strand procedure, then you would see 100s of documented cases on various hairloss forums.

Also the only medically proven treatments for MPB are Minoxidil and Finasteride. You will in all likelihood be wasting your money on their serums and laser treatment for hairloss.

Hey Coopman,

cheers for the info. I have decided to get back on Foligain (minoxidil foam)
i used it for like 2 weeks then stopped.


This week i have been applying it once a night before bed. But i was getting told most people do it twice a day.

Any advice on doing it once or twice ? Will it affect my hairloss ?

You need to apply twice a day to a clean scalp. Some people do get results from applying once a day but they are an exception and probably just super responders.

Once before bed and once in the morning is the logical answer. It can regrow hair around the temple area, but its best results do tend to be in the crown/vertex areas.

You may find your hair is worse after 2months than what it was at baseline but dont despair it will take from 3-6months to notice improvements.

The reason to why it could be worse after 2months is that some people experience a shed. The reason for this is that some hairs that are minitaurising (thinning) are on their last legs and generally it is these hairs that will shed. However after 2 months if you are a responder they could be replaced with thicker hairs.

You may also achieve regrowth to areas where you have lost hair in the last 2 years.

Also bear in mind that Minoxidil although will help to maintain your existing hair, you will need to take Finasteride to slow down/stabilise your existing hair. In other words Minoxidil is primarily for regrowth and Finasteride is for maintaining. However you can achieve regrowth from Finasteride and maintenance from Minoxidil but to a lesser degree.

I have seen your picture and I used to be in a similar situation, if you wish to skype me I can help.

Please see a photo of me after 3 hair transplants, I began losing from the hairline like you at 19 and I had my first transplant at 21, than 24 and in April at 27, I am now 27 and I should have no hair, but I do and people do not notice.

I was in a similar situaton to you, but I went with the best and who really care about every hair and got great results.
