Lack of grafts ?

Hi,

I had 2600 grafts on 2nd jan 2019. It is now 3months and 1 week and I’m worried they have not put many grafts on the front sides as it looks empty and not enough hairs showing.

Please may I have your thoughts.

I think 2600 is a fair amount of grafts for the area addressed, you shouldn't put more into such an area when you have to keep also in mind future loss and your crown from the photos seemingly is showing early signs of thinning and spreading forwards, you have miniaturisation in areas evidently, so keeping that in mind and probably looking into medication if not on is also an option for non treated areas. Still early for growth so you do need to wait and see how things go from month 4 and of course keep in touch with the clinic who performed it, whomever they are. All the best for the coming period and wait to see how things go, and as said, I would not invest more into the recession without seeing where the loss goes, and still too early to see how this transplant will come in.

Yes, a hair transplant takes time to come in and anything at month 3 is a bonus so wait and see how it goes. Your clinic should be able to give you a time-line as to what you can expect but try to relax even if not easy but still very early and you have to wait a good 8 months to a year for the growth to come in. Do keep in contact with the clinic you went to as their input will help you and they will probably have an advisor who can answer and liaise with the doctor for you. It's not easy and I recall my first HT also but try to relax if you can and don't be disheartened at this stage.

As Sl says, 3 months is early, some people don't see growth until the 6 month mark and it's very common for one side to grow quicker than the other. 2600 grafts is enough for the area covered.
Lots of patients look at other patients who have very quick growth and worry but every patient is unique, we all react differently to surgery.

Try not to worry and update when you can so we can follow your journey.

All the best.

It's still so early in the process, there's no need to be concerned at this point. I'm sure you'll see growth in the next couple of months.

That looks pretty good. Growth on people vary, 6-8 months i think is when you see the most significant changes. The hair then continues to mature afterwards.

At 3 months most people see few to no changes.
The fun part usually start at around month 4-5. From then on you will see very good improvements.

hang in there, it will come!

Hi Ches, for five months maybe looks a bit slower than usual, but is still early to make a judgement, the upcoming 3-4 months are decisive, by then you can draw more conclusions.

Good luck!

Everyone grows at different speeds, as Escar says it's still too early to make a judgement on the result....give it 3 more months and if things dont start happening then you will be in a better position to judge whether it's going to be a success or not. Typically clinics suggest waiting 12 months to evaluate a surgery.....some clinics recommend 18 months but usually you will get an idea as to whether things are going to be a success by month 8 imo. (Unless of course your a very slow grower which does happen)
