Low publicity/advertising of SMP

I've been thinking about how SMP isn't advertised the way that transplants and other treatments are. For example you see Advanced hair studio adverts on TV.

First of all I thought, it couldn't be that popular then if there isn't many companies really getting the word out about it.

Then I thought, well if everyone knew about it then it could ruin the "secret" that clients who got the treatment want. I know if I get it done then I don't want anyone knowing and I suppose the more it's advertised in the media, the more likely the general public will look for SMP on people with shaved heads.

Would I be right in thinking this is the reason it's not as well documented than the likes of transplants and minoxidil?

Honestly, no. If the major SMP companies saw a profit in TV advertising, and they could afford it, they would do it.

The industry is still comparatively new. I do believe we'll start seeing TV ads at some stage, but right now no-one in the SMP world is really big enough to justify the cost. Plus there is a general feeling that whoever spends the money will actually end up helping everyone, including their competitors. I get the feeling that everyone is waiting for someone else to go first.

Maybe I was over thinking it then lol.. I think though that the more common knowledge SMP is, the less appealing it is for potential clients.

If you walked up to someone and asked them "do you think i've had a hair transplant?" they would know what you're talking about and maybe notice it. If you asked someone "do you think i've had SMP" they most likely wouldn't have a clue what you're talking about.

I hope it stays this way lol

The amount of people that would want SMP is so low that as Damien has suggested a media campaign by television would not be fruitful.
Much better to target people via social media. Have you ever noticed that when you look up hair transplants online that you get bombarded with adverts for SMP and hair transplants, when you are looking at other unassociated websites. Bingo!!! You have encapsulated your target audience.

I've been told by a member of the Vinci staff that SMP is bettering transplants in terms of clients now with a 4:1 ratio. I would have thought that for something which is deemed the future of hair loss treatments that it would be more advertised. I would still know nothing about it unless I went to a Vinci consultation origanlly inquiring about a transplant. Now i'm neatly certain i'll get SMP lol
