Mature Hairline?

HEY! I'm back. Just curious about my hairline.

I always figured your hairline was supposed to be perfectly straight and sloped down at the temple towards the temple points (if that makes sense?). Mine doesn't, so I got a bit worried. I posted on another forum, and I got a few replies telling me I had no recession. Someone then posted saying that I had a mature hairline. So, is a mature hairline normal for guy's when they grow out of being a teenager?

And... I dunno if my hairline has changed within the past 10 years (I'm 21 now).

This is my hairline now;

And here's a few pics of a few years ago. It's hard to see on the 2001 pic, but it doesn't look that different to my hairline now.

What do you reckon?

You have a mature hairline jonny....you are now a man.

When a hairline changes from juvenile to mature there can be some recession. Mine has some slight recession on my left temple but it hasn't gotten any worse since it matured. My hairline is also exactly the same as my elder brother who hasn't suffered from MPB.

So to clarify, you now have a mature hairline which may have some signs of recession. If it starts to recede further in the future then you will most likely be suffering from MPB. The best way to predict if this will happen is to look at the hair of your older male relatives on both sides of your family.

Hope this helps.

How can you say he has a mature hairline?

In my opinion he has zero hair loss or recession. But hey i am no expert.

Here is a picture of a man who still has a juvenile hairline with zero loss and no recession.

See the difference now?

With respect i don't agree. The picture posted shows a Norwood 0 hairline that's all.
My 6 yr old son does not have a hairline straight across like that picture.

Everyone has a naturally different shaped hairline and Jonny has a natural widows peak that hasn't changed since 2001 according to the pictures.

So by your logic he had a mature hairline at 11 yrs old?

We will have to agree to disagree but i wish you the best;)

No, by my logic he still had a juvenile hairline at 11 yrs old.

If you read my post again I say that he may have some signs of recession.

The pictures are different sizes with long and short hair styles and are not conclusive, IMO.

Jonny has been living with his hair for 21 years and was concerned enough to post on here.

I wish you the best too pal. ;)

I have re read your post and you have clearly stated that he has got a mature hairline.

You then said that it is hard to tell from the pictures posted whether he has any recession or not.

So my question is, how do you know that he has got a mature hairline if the pictures are different?

Your words not mine.

I am still not convinced he has a mature hairline as it looks the same to me.

By the way i am not trying to rub you up the wrong way, i am merely using the forum for an interesting discussion and i hope you understand as i am new to this.

Yep it looks great and he isn't suffering from MPB.

His hairline is simply changing from juvenile to mature. Read the link by Dr. Rassman for an experts opinion and what I said in my first post.

hey. so, i have a question. i posted this same topic on a couple of other forums, and i got a few mixed replies. either my hairline was maturing, was matured, wasn't maturing and the same as i was a kid, my hairline is low so it's just following the shape of my head... etc. etc., so i think it's pretty safe to say that my hairline is okay, and not a worry.

however, as i said, i posted the same topic on a couple of other forums, and i just checked one of them out. three people told me that, again, my hair is fine and there's nothing to worry about.

but, one guy replied saying that my hair looks like there's signs of me being a diffuse thinner, and another told me to get on fin because i may be a diffuse thinner.

what do you guy's reckon? other forums have said my density and all that is fine and there's no thinning... but after what these guys said... yeah. what do you think?

I`d say you aren`t a diffuse thinner, this is just my opinion of course.

Depending on where you are, you could always have an in person consultation and have your hair checked out for miniturazation.

Also we`re having a patient meet up in Manchester this month if you can make it, just waiting on date and venue.

Hi Jonny,

My hairline is similar to yours, I worry that it is receding as every morning there seems to be more and more hair on my pillow. I`m at the point where I only style my hair combed forward to hide the thinning areas. Have you found any products that help you maintain your hairline.

@Bigmac

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'm considering going somewhere just to ease my worries, but I dunno if I could afford it at the moment. And even then, if I was told there wasn't a problem, I fear that in a few months or so, I'd start to worry about my hair again.

Well, I live in Liverpool, so Manchester is only like half an hour away or something. I don't drive though. If the place is easy to get to and on a date I can make, then I'm game.

@Jackjones

I don't have an abnormal amount of hairs falling out of my head, it's within the normal 100 a day. I don't use any products, because my hair hasn't changed since, as far as I can tell, 2009, which get's me thinking that I've just got a mature hairline, like most people have told me. Then again, my parents say my hairline is the same as when I was a kid, but I dunno. Either way, I think it's pretty safe to say that my hairline isn't receding. I just over analyse it cuz I have OCD.

You could always post pics of your hairline so other people could judge it for you.
