After going to a music festival (Download Festival, so had to put up with a lot of headbanging, hair pulling and crowdsurfers) the right temple looks like it's gone back a bit (hair seems quite thin to me there too), don't know if it's my imagination acting up on me cos I felt a bit sore there and a bit of pulling so I'm guessing it may just be traction alopecia if there is any loss in that specific area between my last post and now.

OK last time I'm posting now I promise I'll stop if you're 100% sure it's fine but I got my dreads tightened and it's made the hairline more visible as my hair's all tightened and flatter looking along the scalp and it looks really far back now:

I keep telling myself that it's probably just that it looks weird being flat (as recent pictures with it sticking up more seem OK) but I CAN'T GET THE THOUGHTS OUT OF MY HEAD HELP. I think I just need validation from people who know what they're talking about, if it's all fine then I promise I'm done now. Oh and all the lines/partings and stuff in case you haven't already worked out are just from the dreadlocks.

I think you are OCD regarding your hair, it's fine forget about it and enjoy your life.

One thing you need to know is having your hair tied back tightly can cause traction Alopecia which may cause hairloss that can be permanent.

Try not to keep it pulled back so much.

As said do nothing and already stated beware of traction alopecia and especially using dreadlocks this increases the risk of it.

You are young and limited loss so surgery is not an option at all. See how things go and at most consider medication before surgery but still very early to take that route.

OK I know it was clarified a few months ago that I was probably OK but this temple still bugs me. It might just be that the hair has grown a certain way (I haven't had my dreadlocks tightened since I last posted here) or it could be that I've lost weight or something but it just looks different:

Looks fine to me but if your still worried ditch the dreadlocks because they are heavy and will pull.

Nothing to see here! The temple recession is either perfectly normal that you see as your hairline changes from the juvenile one which is straight and level to that of an adult.

Or this could have been brought about quicker because your dreads have been pulling at these hairs.

Either way you have great hair so enjoy.

OK guys thanks. I guess if it keeps bothering me I'll have to ditch the dreads which'll be a shame but probably for the best. There goes my plans for cornrows anyway :p

Most people would give anything to have hair like yours. You've loads of it. Nothing at all wrong with it.

heavyasareallyheavything,

The good part about documenting your concerns is that you create a
physical record for future reference. This record will be the one thing
that confirms what you think that you may be seeing right now.

You're getting better and better at snapping photos. Send a few
of them on to a few hair restoration clinics and get yourself some
education material. A formal treatment plan will do your concerns
justice. Once you get a recommendation, you'll know your
non-surgical treatment options. You need an actual plan because
hair loss can be a progressive condition.

Theres one question id like to ask u guys here.i ride my bike a lot of the times...most of them times without my safety helmet on.i have already started to loose my hair and i can see it thinning everyday.Does exposing it to windy conditions further weaken my hairline and will it shred further...

The only thing wind can do is blow away hairs that have already detached themselves from the scalp.

Satishshawn,

The wind has no significance on the thinning of your hair line. The wind will only help blow away the hair that would otherwise come out by a hair brush. The average person loses about one hundred hairs every single day. Each and every single hair on your entire head has to shed. Generally, all hair is actively growing or in a resting phase until is sheds. You can think of this shedding as a similar process to the shedding of human teeth. The the primary teeth (Baby teeth) are shed and the adult teeth (permanent teeth) begin to grow. About ninety percent of the hair on your head is in the active growth phase while about ten percent of it is in the resting phase. The resting phase typically lasts for three months. We'd be completely bald for months at a time if all of our head hair was in the same phase at once.

You are more than likely seeing the hair in your frontal hair line reach its final stages. The process is called miniaturization when hairs begin to weaken in caliber, grow at a slower rate, and become lighter in pigment. These are the effects of the hormone that causes male pattern baldness. As your frontal hair line continually weakens, it will eventually be gone unless you extend the life of these hairs. What you want to do is extend the time that the hair is in the active growth phase and shorten the time that the hair is in the resting phase. The key is to find anagen stimulators.

A treatment plan would be appropriate if you are trying to save what hair in the front that you still have. There are several products and options for the choosing. The link below gives you access to obtain a free no-obligation consultation and recommendation if this subject is of interest. I hope that this info was helpful to you.

Just gonna make one last comment here on account of having a haircut and although it doesn't look particularly visible in these photos there is a bit of a temporal angle (although I hear that's normal and may not always be a sign of MPB?) and some parts of my general hairline look a bit off so just wouldn't mind one last checkup before I'm gone from here if that's OK.

EDIT one more for good measure, think this shows the temporal angle slightly better:

For some reason those pictures seem to be broken/aren't showing for me so here's another go at posting them, this time just links to save space:

Crown shots (oh yeah I dyed my hair. Crown was difficult to get as the parting seemed to dart about and it looked worse or better depending on how the parting worked so I tried to wait until I got a natural-ish parting I could use to get a decent crown shot):
