Your hairline looks perfectly fine. Why do you worry so much? Some have naturally higher hairlines and yours is not high at all.

If by any chance it is receding than you can act in the future. You will still catch it in time. Relax.

OK, the temples and lop-sidedness of my hairline bugs me though, always has. New update in gallery, just so you can see for yourself. I only really became aware of it a couple of years ago and I tend to get over it pretty quickly and then have spells where it really bugs me. It may be linked with low self-esteem and depression but yeah. New gallery update: http://www.hairlossexperiences.com/gallery_view.php?user=2269

Don't think there's any real change throughout the past year but think it's good to keep track anyway

I do not see any hairloss and you might be right you just might be dealing with low self esteem. At this point maybe investigate that area first as your gut instinct may be right here. I have read quite a few books in that subject area. Maybe reading a book would be a good start. If you can read about how someone else was feeling and you see it in your self maybe that information might be of value or professional assistance as a second choice.

Too many books to list but a good start would be a book by Brian Cuban he is also the brother of the Mavericks owner (NBA) Mark Cuban. It €™s an interesting quick read €œShattered Image € €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.just a suggestion.

Topcat.... Do those books actually work ?

I was always very sceptical... and thought it was all about "kicking yourself in the arse" ... etc etc...

I had a big change of opinion when I was talked into doing a "tapping" exercise..... all mumbo jumbo to me until I tried it.... It worked ... and I'm possible the biggest sceptic on all these things !

Tim having more information is absolutely always helpful. This subject area can be interesting for a hair transplant patient because it will help you understand why you might be doing what you are doing and then decide if it is still the right decision. This particular book is written more as a short personal biography and it €™s interesting to see how we all handle life issues differently.

I went to visit a farmer last week. I know several and this one was new to me. Something you will find in rural areas if you observe closely and it seems to be a common theme is the houses are not what one would describe as very well manicured, nor do the people present themselves in the same way. In my opinion the percentage of rural people considering cosmetic surgery is practically zero. They simply have not been bombarded with image to the extent of those in a metropolitan area and it is not part of their social proof. Maybe it is more so today then years ago but still not to the same extent as those living in densely populated areas.

So part of what those that maybe something like hair loss might be feeling is generated by outside sources to make you feel something you would not normally feel. Once someone understands this better than they might make a different choice even if it goes against social proof and what everyone else seems to be doing.

I €™m getting long winded here but there was a farm program I wanted to enter a few years ago in another state but it didn €™t fit in with my work schedule. But this would be a good example of doing something that takes you out of an environment and puts you somewhere completely different. No one is worried about hair when working on a farm €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.it simply does not enter into the picture €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦..so maybe for some a good 1[sup]st[/sup] choice might be to take yourself out of your current environment and place yourself somewhere that would be similar €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦..maybe that €™s all you need.

Some of the books I have read on cognitive therapy have been enlightening because some of the approaches to issues that were presented have always been very natural to me in dealing with my own repair issues. Something I would never had to deal with if it were not for that first procedure in which I was never an appropriate candidate. But regardless these ideas I had along the way of dealing with it all came very natural to me and it is what helped me live a very normal in fact exciting life. For many it seems these ideas do not seem to come naturally so maybe learning through reading will help them.

Topcat..
Very insteresting to read your post... Amazing as what you described about the rural life, image etc is exactly where I find myself now.... I have just gone through a perfect example of that..
I've been back and forth to France over the past few years, in the middle of no-where..... a beautiful ramshackle farm house with over 40 acres ... (Probably tiny compared to US farms)... which I bought with my other half for next to nothing...
Each time I went there I seemed to just switch off from the outside world, drove the most beaten up old van, the place had a tiny old TV, old fashioned thrown together bathroom, kitchen etc etc, just about everything was the opposite of what I have in the uk.... I worked harder there fixing the place up, keeping chickens, cutting hay etc etc.....the food was great and all from local producers... Though the odd trip to a supermarket was essential..... Physically I was shattered most of the time... But mentally I don't think I have ever been more alert and focused on what life was supposed to be about....My social life was probably the busiest and best it's ever been....
No-one lived like a tramp... I mean, everyone was clean and presentable... but old jeans and t-shirts etc.... rather than designer clothes...A great life just much simplified...
The one decision I made straight away was to stop the meds, cut my hair short and get on with life..... my old plugs did show.... but I did not care and I think people just did not care either.... They were part of me and that was it....
I don't think I've ever been so happy....
But to cut a long story short, it all went wrong....

So, I find myself back in the uk surrounded by what I refer to as the rat race essentials.... I've watched more TV in the past month than I watched in the past year on a big TV, back to microwave meals, driving a big car and even shopping yesterday as I thought I needed to upgrade my home sound system... It's weird as I stopped myself .. looked around and thought about France... suddenly woke up and thought... Why do I need this... So left and came home...
The biggest change is my attitude towards my hair... all of a sudden it's an issue to me... not like it was before... but I'm back on the meds...
Your post above this just sums this up perfectly........
I think we are just programmed by our surroundings..... I am beginning to see this, but am going to keep the meds going.....but had I been there, it would never have bothered me..
I will not go back to France and that life, not for the foreseeable future..... I also have no regrets...but.... I have learnt and can see almost from the outside how this all works .. though I am going to stop eating the microwave crap and get my diet back to what it was while I was away..
Ops... I went on a bit there and have taken this thread off topic.....

Tim that is an amazing story and it €™s relevant to the thread in my opinion. Television is absolutely the worst in a bad way when it comes to mind programming. Puts your brain in an alpha state and regardless of if you are aware of it or not it does it €™s damage. Then combine that with social proof and the pressure to conform to what everyone else is doing makes it very, very difficult. For the marketers it €™s like leading sheep so maybe it takes becoming mad enough to see what they are doing to you to make a different choice.

It €™s better in my opinion for Heavy to understand what he is feeling because you can be assured that there is some doctor that understands him better then he understands himself and he will use that to offer him surgery when he clearly does not need it €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦..nor does he seem to be experiencing any noticeable hair loss.

Every person that comes from a rural area or a not so densely populated area into the city of Chicago all have exactly the same thing to say. We are talking about dozens and dozens of people I have gotten the chance to have a chat with over the years as they were all customers. It's a nice place but they would never ever live here for all of the same reasons.

And to be clear there are honest ethical people that work in the ht industry. I might not agree with them all but they do care about what they do and the prospective patient.

Wow it's been about a year where I've been fine.

And then these happened.

I don't know if that's just where the hair is lighter there or if it's always been like that or what but I just wanted to check quickly

It's hard to tell from those pictures, it looks thin in the middle of the hairline but that could be the angle or lighting. You need to post pictures from the front with the hair lifted up but not pulled tightly.

Hmm ok, are these any better? Note that the dip before the V on the left hand side (your left, my right) has always been like that. It could easily just be where the hair growing out is lighter than my dyed hair but still, would be good to get a professional opinion.

Just look through my gallery if you need to compare with older pics, there's plenty there from 2013. You might also see that unfortunately I've also put my weight back on cos I yo-yo a bit, one of the things that comes with depression.

Your hair looks ok in those frontal pictures. Try not to worry about it, your depression sounds as though it's making you paranoid about your hair.If you're not being treated for your depression try and get some help as you should focus on that to get yourself back on track.
So, your hair is fine which is one less thing to worry about.
Take care.

OK cool, I asked my friend who's younger than me and much more advanced in their MPB, and they said it looks like some minor recession but apart from that it's absolutely normal and nothing to worry about.

I may start switching to caffeine shampoo (like alpicin) now though as I hear that's very good for your hair and scalp, but I'm not gonna go as far as using Rogaine products just yet.

That's good to hear. Not sure the caffeine shampoo will help but no harm in trying.
