Missed Finasteride for 3 weeks

Hi everyone,​

Have been on finasteride just over 2 years now. My progress has been good, my hair has stabilized itself and feels in decent condition.​

​

The thing is I'm a little worried as I've been on vacation for 2 weeks without any Finasteride usage as I forgot to pack it. I'm now noticing more hairs in the shower which is a concern. Could the effects be wearing off after only 2 weeks of non use?​

I still have another week to go before I'm back home and thinking of trying to source some locally if I can.​

Do you guys think I'll lose any ground I've gained until I get back on?​

You may not have any hair left in 2 weeks time! Sheds from Propecia tend to be really bad after a 2 week gap.

Only joking. You will be fine, I have been taking Propecia for around 15 years and have had gaps of discontinued of around 9-12months before. I generally noticed a shedding and a thinning of hair after 6months from discontinued usage.

You are probably just having a cyclical shed. Don't let it worry you.

You may lose a little ground but Propecia from memory stays in your system a few months.

I know it makes you panic but i agree with Coopman as i came off it for a short while whilst in hospital and i was fine too, enjoy your hols bud

Fin stays in the system for around 72 hours so by missing it for 3 weeks it is not going to be working for you after this time however there is little that will happen by not taking it for a few weeks. I went traveling for 2 months 6 years ago and didn't take any with me and didn't notice any issues when getting back on it again.

I lost all my hair shortly after but I don't think it was stopping the fin that was to blame
