My 4100 FUE with Cosmedica - Istanbul!

Hey guys,
So after a period of research that's spanned 12 months now, I finally plucked up the courage to opt for a HT procedure with the reputable 'Cosmedica' in Istanbul, Turkey. They gave me an initial quote of 4500 grafts which I was extremely pleased about. Considering guys my age getting hair transplants usually get the lower quotation, I was very happy about it! (Just turned 26!)

I'll be totally honest in saying I was extremely nervous about following through with it and I really couldn't of done it without the help from some of the guys experiences posted on this forum. Mickeyblueeyes, Papuzon7 and Steven1888 to name a few!
I thought I'd write my little experience with Cosmedica in the hope it can help out fellow HT enthusiasts like myself to gather the courage to get a HT.

SO, I jumped on the plane to Istanbul last Monday and Arrived around 11:30pm. I proceeded to the designated pick up area given by the clinic and then hopped on the transfer as pre-described. The driver was a fairly nice who was talking about all the wonderful things I should do whilst I'm in the city. We arrived at the hotel no longer than 10-15 minutes after leaving the airport. The driver hinted I give him a tip because of all the nice recommendations he gave me in which I follwed with a wee 20 lira bill. Cheeeeeky!

The hotel was quite nice and a bit basic but it's all you need. Especially when most HT patients are only there for 2-3 nights. So I hopped into bed to then Receive a call from reception notifying me that the arranged pickup time for me at 7:45am has now changed and that I'll be picked up at 6:00pm instead. This did make me slightly nervous considering I was flying home at 12pm the next day....

So, after some time killing throughout the day, I made it to 6pm and waited in the hotel lobby. About 40 minutes later, I was then picked up by two female translators who were very kind and spoke fantastic English. We arrived at the hospital about 15 minutes later and proceeded to the top floor to meet the doctor. I didn't meet Dr Acar but I spoke to another doctor about the procedure and what I would like with regards to my hairline. The Doctor and nurse then drew my new hairline which was immediately happy with and have me a quote of 4100 which I was very happy about!
They apologised for the late start due to an earlier emergency meeting of some sort. And that the procedure would run well into the night.

We made our way down to the first floor where The nurses started shaving my hair and started to apply the local anesthesia. I'm not lying when I Say that the anesthesia was the most painful thing throughout the whole experience! But the following 8.5 hours were fine. No pain whatsoever but I was feeling very uncomfortable in the chair you're sat in for the whole operation. It was a bit dull throughout the procedure mainly because no T.V was on and that I was the only English speaking person in the room too. But again, I'm wasn't that bothered by it! So around the 2:30am mark when I was finished, I was put in a taxi back to the hotel and told to come back at 9am the next morning for a clean up.

I checked out the hotel the next morning at made my way to the hospital in another arranged taxi by the clinic. I arrived and actually got to meet Dr Acar who was very reassuring and completed the HT clean up in time for my flight. I was given my medication and advice on what to do post-op and headed on to my transfer to the airport!

So in conclusion, I did enjoy my overall experience with Cosmedica. And I would do it again if given the chance. I feel the nurses done a great job with my hair and I'm really excited to see what happens. But only time will tell!
I've attached some before and after photos as well. Since uploading the photos, my forehead has swelled up significantly. Especially around the eyes! Hoping it subsides by Monday so I can go back to work looking slightly more normal!

Cheers,

LM

Nice one mate! You had a HT yourself?
No not really. Obviously got told to take it off walking through customs but it wasn't really much of an issue. Just making sure I put it back on in an overly safe way! I just want to skip to the ugly ducking phase now. Hate the 'scabbing stage' and sleeping in an up right position as well 😑

Cheers buddy! Yeah the swelling has gone down quite a bit which is good. But I'm flying to Dubai for a weeks catering work tomorrow which is going to be fairly interesting to say the least! How long did it take for all the scabs to subside Steve?

Cheers guys! Yeah do it Yiddo! And nice one mate. Definitely start a thread as well or post some stuff on this one if you like mate! I've still got quite a bit of scabbing but it's on the verge of falling off. I've just finished a weeks work in a kitchen in Abu Dhabi and it looks like my new grafts have survived. I've noticed some have fallen out but I've heard this is a normal process and that you're bound to initially lose 8-10% of new grafts. I just want to skip to the 'ugly 'duckling' phase now 😀 Could anyone recommend any decent natural anti-hairloss shampoo? Think I can now start showering my grafts properly! I'll post some pics soon!

I've heard Nizoral is good, would probably wait until a month after your HT to begin tho.

I got the revivigen shampoo from the clinic like yiddo, its pretty good. Between that, the finasteride and the biotin pills that im taking my hair is growing rapidly I'm getting it clipped every two weeks at the minute.

I did get the 1 year supply of medication though! [line]I met the Arabic and Spanish girls who were translating for the hospital Yiddo. Both extremely nice! I'm getting my hairdresser to clip it every 2 weeks with her electric razor, I know they say you've not supposed to do this until after 6 months but as long as your careful its fine to do so as far as I can tell.

Hey whatyawant, Yeah I was contacting them via email for a couple of weeks in the run up to the surgery. Lost my contact details for Dr Acar though which is a bit annoying but apart from that, everything is good! Here's a picture taken last night. I've healed a lot of my scabbing up recently and there's just the odd one left now! Just eagerly anticipating the 'ugly duckling' phase now ;)
I'll keep you guys updated! Thanks for the advice Steve! Dying to get my hair cut haha!

Hey Guys,
I'm coming up to three weeks post op and it's safe to say I'm coming up to the 'ugly duckling' phase thin and fast (see what I did there...). Nice one for the the advice Mickey on hair cutting. I'm going to give my head a 'shaved' look for now. I must admit I've still got a few scabs here and there but I'm brimming with confidence for the next few months. I must admit Mickey, it's great to have a hairline back but my head is certainly looking a little worse for wear at the moment! Haha! But looking at your results so far, I'm extremely optimistic for what the new year holds! Any more tips that you could send me way would be much appreciated! I'm still on the hunt for some decent shampoo and I'm extremely split on what one to get.
Here are some more pics. Three weeks post op.

Looks like a good recovery coming on there Luke! I used to use nizoral shampoo which I found was very helpful in terms of the health of the hair!
