my case : need advice and assessment

Good morning,

I am 35 years old and I have been losing my hair since I was 21.

I am considering doing a hair transplant again as I had bad surgery approximatively 10 years ago.

I am looking for advice and assessment as several doctors already refused my case and I am looking for a very competent and ethical doctor to see if it's worth doing a hair transplant again.

Do not hesitate to give me the names of very good doctors if you have some! I am in France but I will go everywhere if I need to!

In my case it seems that I have extensive hairloss (genetic baldness with a hair loss pattern thinning on Top only) and a very poor result of 2 hair transplants. My donor area seems very weak. Furthermore the scarring of my previous strip surgeries is visible.
So I am quite anxious about doing a hair transplantation again.

Shiva I will be happy to give you my opinion. From the pictures you appear to have no scalp donor area left to harvest. This is the reason you were turned down by the clinics you recently consulted with as they simply cannot help you. Your only option at this point would be to use body/beard hair to thicken up the area providing that this alternative donor matches closely enough.

I will add this note of caution from my own observations. I €™m not sure how my grafts you had planted in your previous procedures but it does appear that your yield was low judging by how little hair you have in your donor regions. I have seen a similar case where the patient went to a very good strip clinic had over 8000 grafts and the yield was just as poor. I would have to assume that since the patient had that poor result over 2 procedures and each procedure was equally as poor that the patient simply had something going on with his physiology that made him a poor responder to hair transplants. But it could have also been something as simple as those procedures being too large.

That same patient who was a very avid poster on another forum decided to go down the body/beard road to try and correct the situation. The clinic he chose did something I thought was completely reckless and gave him one of their mega body/beard hair sessions. At about 7 months the growth looked very poor and since that point the poster has disappeared. The point here it that just because someone is a doctor does not mean they have been blessed with common sense or the ethics of knowing the difference between right and wrong and nobody knows that better than me.

Whatever you decide you need to move forward very slowly with a very small procedure and assess growth and this is exactly what an ethical clinic will advise. Seek out additional advice from patients that were in a similar situation as yourself and find out what they did as their own experiences can help you in making an informed decision. Be careful of those that have simply have had their hairlines tweaked yet refer to themselves as repair patients as they have already started their story out with a lie. Seems like common sense I know but so many don €™t seem to get it.

I would also add that just from looking at your recipient in the picture with wet hair it almost looks like you have many grafts that only grew one hair where in all probability multi hair grafts were placed. This would lead me to believe that the grafts themselves were poorly handled but this is just a wild guess on my part and you really should consult some experts. Your donor looks pretty shot on the pictures but i had the same opinion of Bullitnuts donor when i saw that and he has had more surgery which have been very successful.

Did the doctors you consulted with see you in person.

Hi Shiva,

Your dry hair donor pic reminded me of bullitnut as well. I think a more natural look to your frontal 1/2 should be your main goal. You have extensive hair loss pattern and the donor are looks thin so taking care of your frontal 1/2 and leaving your crown alone may be advised. It doesn't look like you'll ever be able to achieve a dense look but a non-pluggy look with thin density is achievable to at least eliminate the pluggy, unnatural look. You'll likely need to punch out the biggest plugs. Given your donor density, a scar revision (s) and punch outs, 2 or 3 procedures may be required to achieve your goal. You may be able to use body hair for back half if that bothered you a great deal but first things first. As Mars pointed out, there are several docs in Belgium who should be able to work with you.

Great advice given here....for what its worth i thought my donor was pretty much shot too and managed to get good results, so i would consult in person if possible with some of the great docs in Belgium and get an evalutation as to whats possible.

I agree with Janna about stick with the front and about leaving the crown area for now, i would address them plugs and try to get a more natural look.

Greed for money or resources results in psychopathic behavior I have no doubt. We can see it happening in the world on both a small and large scale once we become aware. This awareness also helps to tune us into the differences between good and evil regardless of what those who are in control of the information would like to cram down our throats and have us believe.

I guess some of the best lessons in life are the really hard ones. It also helps us understand and appreciate those that carry burdens which are much heavier than our own.

I have the utmost respect for those that choose not to remain silent and take the time to speak up in hopes of helping others.

This patient still looks very repairable, hopefully those who cannot help him will not step up to take his money while leaving him worse off. But one simply cannot leave it to chance. Research the industry and your options until you know it like the back of your hand, then make your decision.

Sorry about your situation...but as mentioned above there are some great clinics that I am sure can help....as Janna mentions Belgium is a great option for you. I and other members of this forum have seen worse sorted out....not so that those poor guys had a full head of hair....but to the degree where they now had a natural look....which even if your hair is thin.....is a great result...
