My Hair Transplant Result 12 years after my First Repair Surgery

My first repair surgery was 2008, then I had another in 2009. Both involved excising out old strip scars, camouflaging pluggy grafts in my crown and strengthening my hairline. I`ve had a few small touch-ups using some FUE scalp and beard grafts to add more density. These were very small procedures which I never really documented because they were only minor.
I`ve also been using 1mg of Finasteride daily since 2005. This has helped retain my existing head of hair.
This is just a quick update to show how a managed hair transplant can stand the test of time.

Hair looks great Bigmac. Do you think you would be completely bald now if it wasnt for the Finasteride and transplants then?

Thanks Risingforehead.
I think I`d be at least a Norwood 4-5 if I`d never had transplants and used Finasteride. My hairline was thinning/receding, I had a big gap in the middle of my hairline. My crown was expanding. I could see it creeping towards my temples/hairline and it was dropping down the back slightly.
Finasteride has definitely saved my hair.

4 awesome repairs with SMG
Hey BM dude your hair looks awesome still....you dont look to have lost any of your hair since last time I seen you tbh. SMG did an amazing job on your crown and I remember that part on your hairline you just mentioned to Rising that was thinning in the middle. Happy for ya dude and great to see the update...just shows what a quality transplant and good planning can do.

Best wishes

BN

Cheers Bullitnut. How time has flown by since we met in that field. ;) I think my hair has thinned a little but I can live with that. Yes, my hairline parted like a pair of curtains.

This proves hair transplants are worth it, your hair looks great. Have you had any problems while using Finasteride?

Looking very good @Bigmac, especially with a shorter hairstyle being able to comb through with a good natural looking hair density. Congratulations to you. Also good advocate for meds being used along with a hair transplant and how the fin has very likely added to the overall result by maintaining your existing hair well.

Hi Todd. The only issue I`ve had is slight man boobs. Other than that, nothing to report.

Thank you HairDr. My video is very clear, with no lighting tricks or concealer. With my hair being slightly longer than a grade 3 you can see it for what it is. The meds have definitely helped. If I was not taking them I`d be continually having hair transplants to replace the hair I`d be losing. It is important for people to know about and plan for future loss.

Great update! Maybe you should add a close up video of your hairline. Your hairline is so natural it’s a work of art!!

Looking good Bigmac. I had a bit of the moobs thing going on when I used fin as well. My main side effect though was I lost loads of body hair (chest, back, upper arms). Which was no bad thing really.

Great to see an update so long after your first surgery. Your hair looks very natural and I am really pleased for @Bigmac. It would be good to see more follow ups with a much longer time period between the operation and results.

Given all the time you’ve spent on here offering support and advice to people and so happy for you.

Hi Pete. Have you stopped using Finasteride altogether?
Interesting to hear you lost body hair. I`ve not experienced this. Seanfue mentioned this in a post but there aren`t any people I could find who documented this phenomenon. Any chance you could start a thread and tell us what happened?

Thanks Edsam. I`m always happy to give my full support to patients. Helping others gives me great satisfaction knowing I`m helping people. Hopefully, this video will show people what can be achieved when you know about hair loss management.
