6 Months Update:

Most of the hairs in the hairline seem to growing although some are a bit short and wispy at the mo.

I don't feel such a freak now. I can look in shop mirrors under strong lighting and I can't see the plugs. It's nice not to have that puinched on the guts feeling.

Those wispy hairs will sort themselves out soon enough.I can imagine how pleased you are to have that pluggy hairline disappear.

Hi all
Sorry I've been a pretty useless member of this forum. Things have been a bit hectic, trying to find freelance illustration work, coaxing the kids through A levels, blah blah. Life has rushed by.

I've have been alot more confident with my improved hairline. I don't feel the stigma of having a 'pluggy' head, so that's good. But I have been getting those warning signs that things aren't quite so rosy with my barnet of late.

I'm not sure that the density is looking quite so good which might be down to losing a bit more hair on top; although I thought I had a bit more hair behind the front third from previous transplants. The couple of hundred grafts on top are barely visible. I thought at first that I had lost some hair from the latest procedure but it's hard to tell. I'll take some pictures and post them here to get your opinions.

Are you taking preventative medications such as Fin to retain your native hair... Some picture comparisons will help judge if you have indeed experienced further loss behind your hairline.

Cheers for the reply larry. No I'm not taking any meds. I didn't really want to have a 'maintenance contract' on my hair.

I was hoping that the work to the frontal 1/3 would be the last procedure for me as I have had 4 now. I wish there was a Dr Mwamba around back in the days of my first transplant.

I'm willing to live with a bald crown, but I think I'm going to have to get the area just behind/beside the frontal 1/3 looked at and possibly the density in the centre front.

I don't like pleading poverty but financially it's been difficult as the recession has had an effect on publishing; and the value of stirling has plummeted since just after my treatment with Dr Mwamba. If I had the money I would get it sorted now, but I'm not sure how much donor hair I have left after my first 3 maulings at the hands of The Nobel Clinic.

I can't wear my hair short now because of the scarring so my options are more limited. So I have no choice but to consolodate what Dr Mwamba has done. Hopefully there is enough donor hair there just to improve the frontal 1/3.

I'll get some pictures posted tomorrow.

Thanks for updating the forum on your progress.

Unfortunately your hair is looking thin,this may as you say be down to losing more native hair.Did Dr Mwamba say how much donor you have left after your HT with him.The other option is to use some body hair to thicken it up.

Do you style your hair in a certain manner as on your pictures it looks like its just been washed and left to dry with no styling.When your hair was shorter it looked better imo.

Hopefully the economy will pick up and the publishing sector will prosper for you.

Cheers for the reply Bigmac. Yes there is no hairstyle there I just roughed it up to show the thinner areas. It does actually does look alot better in reality and the pictures were taken in bright light.

My main objectives with my last procedure was to disguise the plugs and improve the hairline. I am happy that this has been achieved.

I don't know how much donor hair is available. I think I would be happier with a few more grafts in the front centre and behind the frontal 1/3, (in the area marked red in the picture. I'll just have to leave the crown as is.

I'll take a picture from the front with my hair more styled.

The backview with your hair long makes it appear as if you have a ton of donor left but I'm sure upon close inspection your donor scars take up too much surface. Did Dr. Mwamba suggest/recommend cleaning up the donor area to prepare for more donor harvesting in the future?

Hi Janna, thanks for the reply.

I'm afraid The Nobel Clinic savaged the donor area. TBH I am pretty happy with what Dr Mwamba did with the front 1/3, ( the pictures do not do it justice). It could maybe do with a bit more density, but he made it clear that he had to take things a bit easy.

He didn't talk about restocking the donor area. I think another procedure would have to address the area between the front 1/3 and the crown which would consolodate the whole look. Maybe I'll think about getting the donor scars tattoed. It would need too much work to restore that area.

Well, here we go again. I'm off to have a procedure with Dr Mwamba on Thursday!

I have waited since my consultation in 20!1 and a while before that. I simply couldn't afford it as my credit cards were maxed out from the last time.

We downsized our house a bit to liberate some money to pay for the treatment. Obviously selling your house must seem pretty drastic and although this was the only way I could think of to afford it, moving house was something we wanted to do anyway.

The plan is to add density to thd forelock and mid-scalp which looks pretty poor at the moment.. 1350 grafts were earmarked for the task but it looks like it would need more if donor is available.

Dr Mwamba is the one person I trust to sort this out.. He shows a real committment to see his patients goals realized.. In my case I'll need all his expertise to restore my hair and confidence.

I'll update you later this week.

Thanks very much. Well at the moment brushing my hair back to disguise my lacking mid-scalp is my style.. I'm hoping that if we can get this thickened up, I'll have more options
