Hi

I myself worried about side effects from Fin, hence the switch to topical, which seems to have produced results with no sides.

The whole ‘accept being bald’ argument has no real answer. I‘m currently optimistic that I’m getting results with no sides
and the cost of meds is affordable, so continuing and maybe a transplant is the way forward. I feel life with hair is better, but not a deal breaker. It feels doable, affordable and achievable, then that’s where I’m heading. Things might change in time though. If it gives me 10-15 years with decent hair I’ll be happy. At the end of the day, once I’m well into my 60’s everything is getting worse, at some point I’ll have to let go and accept I’m on my way out! Until then though, might as well keep trying to be the best I can be.

Basically I see this as putting myself back in the pack, with people my age that haven’t gone bald, rather than some sort of eternal youth.

Cheers
Yeah, I'm similar in that I may go the 'holding on' route a little longer and who knows I may 'hold on' for the distance and make a hirsute cadaver ; ]

I have a similar attitude in that I know life will go on hair or no hair but feel at least with hair there are a few more options in terms of styling etc, although lets be honest it's unlikely to be an Elvis quiff or footballers mullet, although I wouldn't want either of these but nice to have the option,

I plan on finding out more about HT's and if good, I may go for it in Winter at the end of the year. If I like the buzz look this is a consideration because when you go the FUE HT route this will leave thousands of donor scars which is a big consideration

Just started a new thread about the transplant I had in September 2022. For some reason I can’t post the link, but it is entitled 3,841 grafts Dr Gokhan Gur 14.09.2022.

Cheers

Well it’s time for another update. This one is a bit more exciting than my previous posts, as on Tuesday I went for a consultation at the Farjo Institute!

As background, I’ve been in contact with the clinic since January. I live within an hours walk of them which is extremely convenient and prior to embarking on this hair journey they were actually the only clinic I’d heard of, due to their well documented procedures on numerous celebrities. It only took me a few weeks of research and forum dwelling to make the decision that I was going to go with a very well established surgeon. My relatively advanced condition means I need to be as sure as I can of getting things right first time as I won’t have unlimited donor to fix things if all doesn’t go to plan. I have to be risk averse and stack the odds in my favour, if I were to have a bad outcome and feel I’d compromised on the cost say, the regret would burn away for years.

So as per above, I’d previously had numerous telephone conversations with Mick from Farjo and he‘d provided much encouraging, yet realistic advice. I’d received no hyperbole and went for the consultation knowing that full coverage wasn’t a likely option. I’m actually very comfortable with the thought of not tackling the crown. My 4 possible outcomes were full coverage, which I knew was unlikely, not being a viable candidate, which I very much hoped wouldn’t be the case, coverage of the front third only (including reinstating a mature hairline), or tackling the frontal two thirds. The final option was the one I’d realistically been hoping for, knowing that the crown might just be a step too far.

So on Tuesday, I arrived for my consultation and was given a warm greeting by the receptionist, then taken through to the consultation room to await Mick’s imminent arrival………(to be continued)……….
Any updates,

Any updates,
Hi

Good timing on requesting an update…….I had my 2nd transplant on Tuesday last week. Went back to see Dr Gur in Istanbul again. First one was 3,841 grafts to the frontal 2/3 and this one was 2,231 grafts to add more density to this area plus implantation to the crown. Currently dealing with scabs and itching, but it seems to have gone well. I’ll update my main thread soon. Hoping the increased density will be noticeable and I expect the crown to be fairly thin, but an improvement. That’s 6,072 grafts so far and Dr Gur reckons I have around 1,000-1,500 grafts left for any future surgery.

Cheers
