Please Help with FUE & U-FUE Procedures

Hello everybody, I know everyone must of read a lot of these posts but with all the information and reviews I €™m finding it a bit of a mind field €¦..

I €™m 36 and I have not started any medication for my hair loss. I have looked in to the meds Propecia / Minoxidil / Natrol Biotin, but with all the side effects it €™s slightly worrying. Firstly can anybody help with the correct meds if there are any different ones than the above? I know all meds work differently on people and the side effects could be only for a handful of people.

I have come to the decision that I €™m willing to try the meds to try and stop the loss.

Secondly I have been to clinics in the UK and it feels like a sales pitch and they don €™t seem to tell you everything you want to know or you come out confused!
I would like to go for a hair transplant with the above techniques however the only thing worrying me with the FUE procedure is the scaring? How noticeable would it be?

If I go for the procedure do you still have to take the meds after it, presuming you do..

I have read Belgium / Brussels is the place to go and forget about the UK. Which are the best clinics in Brussels and can you have a consultation in the uk?

If you are in the UK then Belgium is only a hop over the channel. You have Bisanga (bhr), Feriduni, Mwamba, Prohairclinic and Devroye.

They have hundreds of documented cases of their work online.

In respect to FUE scarring. Its all down to the FUE punch size. If someone uses a 1.0mm punc, then compared to a 0.8mm punch, thats quite some difference.

Taking meds is necessary to prevent/slow down loss of existing native hair.

As a starting point i would check out the clinic section and have a look at the many results from various doctors. All the clinics Coopman mentioned have shown excellent results. If it's possible i would try and arrange a few days in Belgium to consult with the different clinics and try and get a personal feel for the clinic and their techniques and ask questions directly to each clinic.

The meds do need to be continued after the surgery to prevent or slow further loss down the line unfortunately. Personally i think it's wise to try the meds first before you consider the HT to see how you get on, you may even get some slight regrowth dude.

IMO it's best to try the meds, hopefully you respond well with no side effects. There are a number of consultations in the UK in the coming months, if you check the announcement section and general section you will see which ones are available.

I have ordered Kirkland Minoxidil 5% 12 months and I'm just wondering if there is any replacement for Propecia (Finasteride) due to all the possible side effects?

Does anybody know of any natural meds or are these the best around?

I think medication worth looking into and see your GP and or Hair Retention Team in Boots Chemist if you can as they have a lot more data on Minoxidil and Propecia and also your own GP may be able to help and see if suitable for you and look at your medical history.
You have signs of miniaturisiation and ideally need to stabilise the loss and strengthen before any surgery. Your age is good and hair to skin colour but from the photos the loss potential is there and needs to be taken into account also and factored into any work undertaken in terms of surgery.

Try Saw Palmetto for example.
Or something newer in the market like Keratene Retard.

Results can not be promised but for some it does help actually.

I have been looking at Saw Palmetto, the only place I can purchase it with confidence would be Holland and Barrett 450mg tablets.

I've read lots of mixed thoughts on this also Finasteride,

I know this is clutching at straws, but does anybody know which would be best to take with Minoxidil 5%.

I think I'm understanding that saw Palmetto is a mild - Moderate DHT blocker and in the same case Finasteride is but FDA approved

Has anybody any thoughts on them?

Medical history I've had nothing wrong with me and no allergies. I'm only saying this because I think I'm suitable for any meds.. I'm not a doctor I know but I can't see any issues. hence me ordering Minoxidil, and like people have said you have to take action as soon as possible.

Healthspan also sell Saw Palmetto. I prefer Nettle Root but that's a different story but nothing either as a natural or supplement will be as effective as Finasteride.


As said above Keratene Retard is there but is milder and different in its mechanism of how it works but you could contact Mark Costin at Hairclinics or Prohair to see more about it and they can say if they think would be of benefit to you.

Speaking from experience, a lot of it, avoid surgery, just avoid it. Try the meds as much as you can and if they don't work, try your hardest to come to terms with losing your hair, there's no shame in it, none at all, it's not somthing you chose but it is the hand you were dealt, but imho it's better than going down the HT route.

If I go the route of Finasteride is this a prescription drug only in the uk or can you buy direct from another supplier?
I presume it's the same dosage as noted on the internet 1mg tablet daily? or can you start off with a lower dosage to see how your system copes with it? I have to admit I'm quite lucky with any side effects I don't seem to get any, but there is always the first time!!

I will of course tell my GP and let them know I'm taking it, I work out of the country a lot and it's a total headache just getting Malarone subscribed to me....

A prescription is needed in the UK and 1mg daily is the dosage, some will self dose and change amount and frequency of taking it but that is going to be their decision as such on how they take it but it is registered for 1mg daily.

Private doctor can prescribe or Boots the chemist. Try to avoid websites that sell it online with no prescription as you don't really know what you are getting. If you contact Bigmac on here the forum owner he may know doctors who can prescribe privately or trusted places to get it from.
