Dear Forum Moderator and members

Greetings

I really don't know from where to start since my struggle with hairloss has been a journey of pain. I started to lose my hair since the year 2001, and it has progressed so much that I reached a NW6 level. My whole confidence and self esteem are very low, and I started to isolate myself alot. I barely go out in public or even to family meetings. I asked my employer to remove me to an isolated work site from where I could work without interacting with too many people. It is a pain to see myself becoming this isolated negative person, where in the past I was so full of joy and happiness.

To add to the bad situation, I live in Palestine that is suffereing from a very bad economy due to the political difficulties here, the poverty has reached about 70% of the population. I find myself really hopeless since I will never ever be able to even make enough money to have a Hair transplant in my life. I know that many would maybe say look at the guy who thinks of his hair while others in his country can't find the means to eat. I realize that and that is what is makes me thank god for at least I can still find money to buy food. But the problem of hairloss is not only entitled to rich or wealthy people, believe me it can affect the poor too, the only differnce is that the poor will not be able to fix that problem.

Please I kindly ask for a Pro Bono, at least consider me for it. I am suffering from all my surrounding already, and top that with a killing feeling of self image destruction. I can't really tolerate myself being bald, and continue my life in this suffering.

Mypain,

While I sympathize with your plight (I really do) I am always surprised to hear from people with thinning hair who isolate themselves because of it. It is a completely natural occurrence, and the truth is, if you find yourself more and more reclusive because of it you might have other issues that need addressed other than hair loss.

I once had low self esteem in my teens, and not because of hair loss. As I got older into my 20's I lost that problem and probably acted way too confident, actually quite cocky, and much of that may have been compensating for low self esteem. Either way, I was very sociable and had an active social life.

Then I got a series of bad hair transplants, and have never been the same. Not because of low self esteem but because of embarrassment. I cant remember how many times I wished my biggest problem was hair loss.

You need to realize that not everyone is a candidate for a HT, and quite honestly, you are probably one of those people. If you ever decide to do this you need to consider just how extensive (and expensive) such a procedure would have to be to give you coverage.

My advice: Figure out why hairloss is causing you so much pain and fix this. That is the real solution to your problem. not surgery. Either way, good luck

Thank you so much wylie

I really appreciate your sympathy, and I know that it sounds as a trivial problem maybe to so many in the world. I really think that it is something inside me who does not look like the person i see in the mirror. I really think that my hairloss is the only think that I am struggling to cope with, I don't mind being in a bad financial situation, since here in palestine we are used to live in barely living conditions already. But I don't know why my feeling of saddness is growing day by day, and the idea that I will not be able to fix it due to financial struggles is just adding to the sadness. If I look in the mirror I keep feeling unhappy, this is why I just wake up and wash my face and brush my teeth, and comb what is left from my hair without looking at the mirror, to avoid that bad feeling i feel when I see my baldness. I really question why such a small issue like hairloss affected me so much, but what can I do, really just try to cope with it, and hope that maybe someone hair would grant me the pro bono as gift to set me free.

Hello mypain.

Sorry to hear about the situation you find yourself in and the effects your hairloss has on your daily life.

Unfortunately this pro bono offer has now finished, there may be other clinics who will offer something in the future but as of yet there is nothing planned.

If a hair transplant is the way you want to go,you can apply to Operation restore which is run by the ISHRS,here is the link.

http://www.ishrs.org/ishrs-pro-bono.htm

They have doctors from Lebanon and Israel who are members,i dont know anything about them though.

Take care.

THanks so much for your concern, and continous follow up.

I am considering applying, I hope I will get a positive result and that some compassionate surgeon will accept my case. That will be the best gift I would have recieved in my whole life.
