So just an update, I had my second procedure. I have had 1004 grafts implanted. The consultant didn’t lower the hairline on the peaks as much as I would've liked but his reason being that if I was to recede at the temples it will then look unnatural etc. I understood his reasoning but was still a little reluctant, however he was pretty confident I would be happy with the end result. I also thought he would implant further back too however he advised the hair behind was ok. In my opinion it is a bit on the thin side. But then again, I’d lose grafts/density at the front.

The consultant and technicians were very happy with the graft quality which was a positive. Just a matter of waiting it out now to see how things progress.

These grafts sound as though they`ve been used wisely in the areas that needed them, strengthening these areas I think was the best option.

The area behind the newly implanted area is thin too. Do you think it will look odd with the density in front and behind it? Specially if I end up thinning more (less chance with my meds obviously)

I did mention it to the Dr however he said it’s ‘good hair’

Yes he did have a look. When I went for my review in November the area that was drawn that would be treated did cover some of the thinner area - however the doctor had quite a good look at it on the day and, as I said previously said it was good hair ‍♂️ I have attached the pics from the November review for reference to mark the area that was drawn - bear in my this was one of the surgical team I saw and not the doctor.

I know it’s still very early days, but I’m just a little bit anxious about it as I don’t want to have a third procedure, also because this would incur more cost (this most recent procedure was covered under the guarantee of the first one.)

Looking at those pictures and the recent transplanted picture I think it should look ok once grown out. The density looks like it will be pretty close with the rest of your hair.

Thanks BM. That’s reassuring to know. Does the recent transplant look ok? Placement and density wise?

As a side note, this forum is great!

To be to able to be open and honest as well as get others opinions and experiences so really is very useful. I’ve found that sometimes in consultations it can be tricky to ‘speak up’ but when reading the forum and speaking and learning from others about their experiences, it makes you want to speak up to make sure you get the best outcome possible and not be short changed.
I hope I can continue to receive feedback from your BM as well as the rest of the forum. It’s always good to have opinions and impartial advise.

It is hard to judge density because of the scabs or dried blood in the area but the placement/distribution looks ok to me. I`d have no cause to worry if it were me.
Maybe ask the clinic to supply you with the immediate post op pictures. Ask what density the grafts were placed at. This will help you keep track of your progress and the final result.

Thanks BM. I have asked for the pics and graft breakdown so will share when they come through.

I remember being told at my review that they usually aim for 40 grafts (hairs maybe?) per cm2. Not sure what mine have Been placed at but I was also told that before my latest procedure I was 50-60% coverage when they normally aim for 80-90% coverage, If that helps?

Sounds good, that density plus the existing hairs there should create a nice looking hairline.
