Right it is the day after my FUE hair transplant and thought I would keep an update thread of progress.

From start to finish I thought the whole experience was great from Dr Arshad and the whole team. The facilities were clean and all the technicions and Adam were great and made me feel welcome.

The extraction part was definitely the worst, not so much pain wise bit having to stay still tho it worked out and time soon fly's by. Dr Arshad did all the extractions.

Had a quick bit to eat then onto make the insertions for the grafts and again Dr Arshad did all this. The technicians did all the implant of grafts and work d r ally well with 3 working on me at any one time.

Before I knew it the procedure was done and had a debrief with Dr Arshad and I was on my way. I entered the clinic at 7 and left at 5.

My graft breakdown was
S=199
M=463
1=256
2=939
3=1229

Total 3086

Below are 2 pics pre op. And a couple 24 hours after my operation, no pain and hopefully all is well.

Day 2

Keeping up with the routine of saline spray every 2 hours and antibiotics. Have not took any pain killers and im feeling in no pain whatsoever. Still struggling to sleep but thats just the awkwardness of sleeping at a 45 degree angle more than anything.

Started to use the cream on my donor area today and I think the donor area has improved the last 24 hours. Hopefully everything is on track.

Day 3
Seem to be scabbing up more today but still no pain or itchiness. On the circled pictures I seemed to have a yellow area on my head which looks like a bruise? Could this be from the injections?

Looking forward to day 7 head wash as instructed by my surgeon though it seems every one does it much earlier elsewhere but will stick with the instructions given to me.

It looks like your head is healing fast. When you wash your head I bet it looks clean and normal again. You went for full cover which will look thinner heading towards the back of your head. Do you use Finasteride? I would get on it if not already using.

I have started on finasteride. I had a large thining area to cover and to be fair the top and front of my head were priority. DR ashard spread the density near the back to give it a natural look. Depending on final results with finasteride, minoxidil and the operation I might leave it as it is or in time have a second operation. Hopefully I can re-access my situation when I see the final results.

I had yellow bruising too. It's normal and will go after a couple of weeks. It's a lot of trauma for your scalp

Hi Johnboy. It sounds like everything went well during surgery. You look as though you’re healing well. The bruising happens sometimes but nothing to worry about.
It’s good to hear you’re on Finasteride. No sides I take it?
Thanks for sharing your story.
All the best.

No side effects from finasteride, first wash at 7 days and hopefully scab free by 10 days. I was a a big user of hair fibres before my op, anyone know when it is safe to use these again?

Having your first wash will feel good. I used fibres 10 days post op without any issues. Check with the clinic on what they advise as it’s best to follow their post op instructions.

I would always wash it out every night. Keep the scalp nice and clean.

DAY 5 post FUE

Starting to sleep better on a night and suffering no pain of itching and suffering no issues.

Counting down the time until day 7 when I can have my first hair wash. Find it fascinating that some clinics wash your hair after you have had a FUE but others tell you to wait 7 days?

Can not really judge how red my scalp will be after the scabs come loose but will probably have a better idea on Tuesday.

Currently due my first head wash tomorrow, may be a stupid question but should the surgical pen come straight off my scalp. After ready on the internet it should fade away on its own after a couple of days which has got me slightly worried.

I wouldn’t worry about the pen, it will come off when you wash your head

Day 7

Finally first head wash day. Soaked in semabad shampoo for 10 mins and then slowly massaged recipient area with gentle circular motion with finger as instructed by clinic.

Felt weird to finally touch hair and everything seems secure and in place. Left hair to air dry and the first hair wash has seemed to accelerate the scabs on my hair which seems dryer and look like there will come off. Put a bit of aloe Vera get on the donor area after due to it stinging but soon settled it down.

One concern at moment is the bloody surgical pen on the fringe. Was hopeful it would have faded after first hair wash but seems to be no affected. Really hoping after a few more washes it will come off.

With tonight I can apply a bit more pressure when shampooing my hair. Is it harmful to wash your hair more than once a day in this stage?

Day 8

Been more vigorous with the hair washing today and more and more scabs are coming off. Hopefully all will be off by day 10. Head looks red which is to be accepted so I have bought some aloe Vera spray.

Noticed the odd hair in the sink when washing my hair but understand this part of the process. On schedule at the moment, was a user of hair fibres before my transplant so maybe thinking of using them after 14 days.

Day 10.

Minimal scabs remaining now, just looks like flaky skin on my head. Lot of redness at the moment and the clinic have recommended storing aloe Vera gel in the fridge and using it on my head.

Have some aloe Vera after sun gel, would this be appropriate?

Thanks.

I used aloe on sunburnt skin, it is most likely similar stuff. Otherwise, buy some from any health type shop. It is cheap to buy.
