Your hairline looks a little thicker but that’s about it really. You must be feeling low right now, Yoo has provided good advice. Let us know what the clinic has to say.

Well i have not documented my journey for a while due to reasons i can not really go into at the moment.

I will wait till the 12 month mark to pass a total judgement but to say i feel rock bottom over my progress at the moment is an understatement. ☹️
Could you show any photos how the donor area is looking?

I feel for your situation and I wish you the best, try to be strong.

In the end its just hair, even if I understand how it saddens you to see this result and the money you spent.

Theres light in the end of the tunnel, just take your time and think about how to proceed from here. I would say to get an evaluation from other clinics, if you prefer UK, I would personally try to get an in person check by Dr Edward Ball and see what he would recommend for you. You could get it at Month 10-12.

As I said before, I really think Dr Arshad should take a step back and rethink what is happening, how to improve, and what routine they are doing that makes this happening to almost every patient we see being posted, its not fair for the patients spending their hard earned money and get results like this.

It seems that they do care about their patients and offer free touchups and all that, I think we have yet heard an explanation though from the clinic itself, correct me if I am wrong, what their view on why all these cases is happening and what they have changed to ensure the quality.

Really sorry to see this mate. It looks like there was almost no growth at all.

To echo the post above me I would be very hesitant to get any further work at this clinic. I was one of the initial wave of Hair Dr patients that all had transplant failures. Your transplant was 8 months after mine so the fact it's still happening is quite concerning. And concerning for my own top up prognosis also.

I'm really sorry to read about your results @johnboy. :( I know this must be a really tough time time for you.

I'd definitely suggest you get a second opinion before moving forward with anything else. As others have mentioned, it's a bit concerning that we've seen a few cases like this in the past year from the clinic without a concrete explanation as to why. It might also be worth getting your scalp examined for any inflammatory issues.

Keep us updated with how you're doing, there's plenty of people who are in a similar situation so don't feel like you've got to deal with this on your own.

Hi Johnboy83. I’m sorry to see the growth has not been as expected and to hear it has made you feel very low. The 3084 grafts were used over a large area which should have provided a decent frontal third with a thinner coverage going back towards the crown.
Are you at 10 months now? Like others have said, I don’t think it’s going to improve further to make enough difference that you’d be happy.
What does the hairline look like with your hair pulled back?
You may wish to explore possible underlying conditions that can cause poor growth. A scalp biopsy may be required. Sometimes a very small number of patients experience poor growth for no apparent reason, it is know as the X factor.
Please keep in touch with the clinic and update the forum when you reach 12 months.

I’m really sorry to hear your surgery didn’t go as well as hoped.

As others have said, all is not lost, but pausing to consider what happened and what your next move should be is definitely the right approach.

As Big Mac says, sometimes low yield is unexplainable but I do think trying to evaluate your head to rule out any pre existing conditions is the first logical step to take.

I’m sure the Hair Dr will be extremely motivated to fix this for you. However, if it were me, I’d want to be absolutely confident the root cause of the lack of growth was understood to give you confidence that a second surgery would be successful.

Personally, I’d want that confidence to come from an independent 3rd party to avoid any unconscious bias in the assessment.

I truly wish you the best with whatever you choose to do next, and really feel for you - it must have been an emotional rollercoaster. This forum is full of people who have been where you are and come back from it, ending up with a result they’re happy with.

Hello mate,

I know very well the emotional feelings of these HTs. Afterall, I had 4 which really didnt help. My advice to you would be:

1) Look into surgeons that make use of beard grafts as well as scalp grafts. That way if you do decide to go in for a second surgery, then using a combination of scalp and beard can suffice and means that you wont have to overuse your scalp donor. Definitely worth a thought and a consultation to see how this may work for you should you wish.

2) I would also suggests hair systems though the maintenance is a pain. Again, I know the feeling all too well having had to resort to that for 10 years before going down the SMP route. SMP can work if you dont mind the cropped look. Potentially you can combine SMP and transplant to give you that fuller look.

See what you think.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply I am at 11 months and not much have changed, I have had a visit to the clinic a couple of months ago. The visit was not really beneficial apart from been told that there was hair growth.

I have spent a lot of money and not much to show for it, I have some issues regarding the past year but think it is fair to bring it up with the clinic first.

All I will say is a feel quite low regarding this at the moment.

Sorry to hear you’re still feeling low regarding your HT result. Some pictures would be good so we can see the issue you’re having.
Hopefully, the clinic can put you at ease and explain in more detail your yield and a plan moving forward.
Keep your chin up if possible.

Hey JB

Sorry to read about what has been a tough year for you on the hair loss front and all this brings. Looking at your recently posted pictures depending on the lighting but these look to be a definite improvement for hair growth over others posted. They look to have coverage enough that you may be able to get away with additional SMP if you wanted additional density. Granted, up close this may likely be visible but if you want density from additional HT's you may be setting yourself up for disappointment as many do not attain this and may be a recipe for additional distress.

If I were you I would consider the clinics offer for another procedure without additional charge, especially as someone else wrote if they can preserve grafts by taking a mix of scalp and beard for this and then have SMP as a back up plan if still dissatisfied a year post 2nd procedure.

It should be worthwhile in the end I suspect. ATB for a successful outcome.

Hi johnboy my hair looks similar to yours before, Im sorry to hear its not gone how you wanted 3000 grafts is a lot how did the day itself go was it a big team? Ive looked into big procedures for myself and maybe 3000 grafts is not enough grafts to cover an entire head ive been told maybe 2/3 head at best what did the clinic tell you re expectations? Im starting to think that my hair is thin so it isnt going to look like theres no scalp poking through it even after a big case. How do you think about the results now ?
