They said it was down to individual hair characteristics, cause it’s quite thick and curly they didn’t want to cause any trauma, I’ll give them another message next time I’m ready for a cut and hopefully get it a bit shorter. Cheers mate

4.5 months post HT

Not much happening for me at this stage unfortunately, some small growth in the left temple but nothing noticeable.
Given some of the results I’ve seen on here I’m slightly disappointed with where I am in comparison but I understand that there’s a long way to go yet.
In the last couple of weeks My native hair has reached a length that covers the front to a certain extent and definitely feels more healthy which I’m putting down to the finasteride. I Would like to think this time next month they’ll be a decent difference.

4.5 months is still early days @AFA7. Just hold in there buddy. Your hair characteristics look similar to mine both in texture and colour. I saw the biggest improvement around the 9 month mark. Just keep positive.

Cheers @Baldingman23, I’ve been keeping an eye on you’re progress and it’s definitely come on loads in the last 3 months. Did you use minoxidil? It’s something I wish I’d started earlier and wondering if early growth and minoxidil use has any correlation. I’m tempted to use it now but I don’t want it to cause anymore temporary thinning

I never used minoxidil, I didn’t want to get in the habit of that so my regime is just fin, biotin and saw palmetto. Have you sent the clinic your pictures so they can reassure you of your progress? I know it’s hard not to compare others growth but remember everyone grows and heals differently. I put myself down to being a slow grower.

That sounds similar to what I’ve been taking. I haven’t spoke to them for about a month but I need to message them next week so I’ll see what they say, I know last time I spoke to them they said they didn’t expect to see much growth until 6 months and 9 months for it to thicken. I don’t mind the waiting it’s more just the unknown but I’ll trust the process and I’m sure it’ll be worth it in the end

1 week out from 6 months post HT.

Still not a lot of change unfortunately, there has been a small amount of growth on the left temple but not much apart from that.
Worth noting that I started taking minoxidil on the advice of the clinic from about the 15th June which saw around 50 stubble length hairs shed along with a reasonable amount of native hair.
The clinic have said they expect to see growth from 6 months onwards so hoping the next couple of months will bring the most change.
My native hair definitely does feel a lot thicker than it used to with the use of finasteride, something which my barber has picked up on too.

Yes mate,

I had a phone call from Sommiya at about 4.5 months in which she did say that they wouldn’t expect too much growth before 6 months and that’s when it should start to show more. Since then I have sent them monthly photo updates, in which they have said the same.
I’d lie if I said I wasn’t a bit concerned as they’re really isn’t many new hairs popping through and no real sign of a hairline.
I’m just trying to tell myself to trust the process and that there’s a long way to go

Still a long way to go! best not to keep checking in the mirror every day, just check properly every 2-3 weeks, then you'll see see larger differences as more hair as come through.

It’s difficult mate, first 4/5 months I was quite relaxed but I’m definitely obsessing more and more as the weeks go by.

I know it is difficult but try not to obsess, it will not help. It is important to wait the full 12 months and then assess if any further intervention is required. The clinic is more than willing to stand by its work and will support you in this journey until you are 100% satisfied with the outcome.
Regards
Sommiya

I can definitely vouch for what Sommiya has stated above. I had my 12 month review last week at the clinic and overall Dr Arshad was quite happy with my result. I have 2 little thinner sections which Dr Arshad noticed and if in the next 3 months these don’t fill in a free of charge top up will be needed. Knowing the clinic stands by its clients/work is very reassuring and the support I’ve gotten from the clinic from day one has been 1st class.

Most of my growth happened in month 9, that’s when I started to see the big difference so you are still very early days at 6 months @AFA7 patience is key but knowing the clinic has your back should help you relax.

7 month update

I’ve noticed a few subtle changes in the last month, there has been some hairs that have matured and become more visible.

The growth on the left temple is still a fair bit ahead of the right, there are more new hairs popping through on the left side rather than the right.
Overall it’s still very see through in natural light and the hairline isn’t visible from a distance yet but there has definitely been improvement.
I’ve added a few more photos with the flash on as it seems to pick up less matured hairs better as well as a couple from further away in the natural light.
Any honest opinions I’d appreciate.

@HairDr Clinic @Baldingman23 thank you for the support it does help, I spoke to Adam at the clinic a few days ago and he mentioned about coming into the clinic at 9 months for a check up, he was great with putting my mind at ease and reassured me I’m still on track, I can’t fault the support I have received.

I’m a longtime lurker on the forum and I’ve been following the UK results for a while now and considering my options: The Hair Dr is a clinic I’ve been following results on for a while (as well as Dr Ball & Dr Reddy) and they were top of my list based on feedback relating to customer service, however there are a lot of recent posts, both here and another well known forum (not sure if I’m allowed to mention?), where results are poor at 7,8,9& 10 months- which is typically where one would expect to see significant results, although still months of maturing to go.

I appreciate every surgeon has a poor result every now and then, however it seems the majority of posts on here from real users seem to be lacking results.

I noticed there were a lot of users posting immediately after their surgery at the back end of last year and it seems these are all now coming out with poor results.

Should this be a concern?

I saw the biggest improvement in my HT at around the 9 month mark. I think the support you get from The Hair Dr and his team is 1st class and that they want their clients to be 100% happy with the result. You still have 5 months left of growth, I’d take Adams offer up of popping into the Clinic at month 9 as I’m sure Dr Arshad can assess your progress.

Hi AFA7. It is difficult watching your own progress and comparing it to others, especially if the others have had great growth around the 5-6-7 month mark. Looking back at your pre op picture I see you still had quite a bit of hair in the forelock which was also transplanted Into. This area was the first to recover with the existing native hair and possibly some transplanted hair. The hairline and temple corners which had no native hair are looking thinner right now as the growth has not yet matched the forelock.
I can see the outline of the hairline and the growth you’ve already had for 7 months. I think the next few months will give a better indication on how it will turn out. You still have enough time to experience more growth which will hopefully meet with your expectations. Some patients don’t have any growth at 5-6 months, then they get a big burst. For now, all you can do is wait and try not to worry which I understand is hard.
Many patients like myself will use fibres or other concealers to compliment the growing hair until they need it less and less.
Definitely see the clinic for the suggested 9 month follow up. It’s good to write down beforehand anything you wish to ask.
I hope that helps you.
Bm.
