That’s true, they’ll ask if any trauma etc and say wait. Definitely mention it in your next contact to make them aware so it can be monitored.
Your donor on the sides looks good. I don’t see any signs of it being thinned out.

Great progress so far for 10 weeks!

Like you I also had a patch near the hairline that persisted for a while (I guess it is normal at this stage) but am now seeing thin hairs grow there. Though for me it was a mixture of bald and stubble - the stubble was nice to provide some color, but it ultimately needed to shed out to make way for the underlying follicles when hairs are ready to emerge. So I guess for you the fact that that area has shed may hopefully signal growth ahead.

Hopefully the hairs you notice emerging there make themselves more visible in the coming few months and start to fill it in, which are bound to be exciting times as your peak growth kicks in!

3 Month Update:

Not much has changed but I definitely see more growth/fullness in the last week. Pictures don't really do it justice but in person/mirror it looks a little better. A ways to go still but I'd definitely say I have early growth now. The bald spot seems less noticeable than before and I think I see a few hairs starting to show in the area. I also don't see much growth in the temple area, especially the right one but maybe they will start coming in soon. 2 Pictures are of wet hair then styled. They got out of order so maybe I'll post them separately if it helps.

Let me know what you think.

Starting to grow, its very early still and I totally know the feeling at 3 months, CAN IT START TO GROW FASTER?! Kinda feeling. Just 3 more months and you will feel hopefully be very happy. :)

Hi Joeman.
You`ve had quite a bit of growth for 3 months. You are correct when you say it looks better in the mirror. The camera doesn’t always pick up the finer hairs. Some people have zero growth at this point in time. The bald spot does look less obvious. If you can see or feel hairs there, then that’s good news.
I did a quick comparison to show your progress. Pre-op, month 2 and 3.
Thanks for the update.

Wow, Thanks @Bigmac for showing the difference. It really is eye opening when shown like this. Hopefully in a month I can style it again. Thanks for the support!

It’s easy to forget where we started from. Only when comparing we then realise how far we have progressed. At this growth rate I’m thing 2 more months the density will be pretty good. In a month you could very well style it. Sprinkle some magic fibres on and you’ll have an instant result.

By the way, for anyone wondering, I'm taking collogen, Liver pills, msm, Hyaluronic Acid, vitamin D, Zinc and a multi vitamin will Biotin and others in it. I eat a few Avacados a week, work out almost daily (Lots of bike riding) and Sauna a few times a week lately. Not sure if any of this help but just letting people know my regimen.

That’s a good healthy regimen. I believe msm helped speed up my growth.

Out of interest, are there any studies about MSM and hair loss/quality? I've only ever heard @Bigmac mention it on here. I got some a little while ago due to this

I'm not sure about the studies and not sure if I trust them anyway. In my opinion though, the cost of my supplements are rather low considering how much surgery was. I feel like it's helping with early growth but I honestly can't say for sure.

MSM is inexpensive, has health benefits which include nail and hair health. It was widely used by patients in the hope it speeded up hair growth. Some, like myself believe it helped. Most people mention Biotin these days.
Here is one study. I’m sure there are more if you search for them

Exciting times - its great to hear you're getting some early growth, particularly through the bald spot too. Another month and you may be able to use fibers or dermmatch to get you through the rest of the ugly duckling phase if you want.

Are you still on the 1mg 3x/ week finasteride, and any thoughts on bumping up the frequency to daily if you're tolerating sides? How about minoxidil - I don't recall seeing that in the thread?

I use MSM too, the effects weren't massive in my case but my last haircut on it was 2.5 months instead of 3 which is the usual timeframe (almost like clockwork) and there are really not any drawbacks.

4 Month Update:

So it's been 4 months since my procedure. Overall, I am pleased with the progress so far. Of course I wish it was thicker but at this stage, I'm able to somewhat style it and go out without a hat. The hair is thinner and harder to style but I know it will thicken in time. Let me know if you have any questions or comments. 1 picture is dry and 1 wet. The rest have gel in it.

Sorry, I just saw this! As far as finasteride, I quit taking it for about 2 weeks due to side effects. I started taking 1/2 pill every other day now and side effects seem more tolerable. The Dr didn't advise me to take minoxidil though. He seems to think that my hair is fairly stable at 44 and said finasteride alone should be enough.

If you do get sides with the reduced dosage maybe topical would be an option. Hopefully, you are ok.

Hi Joeman. Your hair looks good for 4 months. The curl to your hair certainly helps with coverage and I’d say will work wonders for the final result. It’s great that you can go out without a hat, your confidence levels are on the up. Being able to style your frontal hair again must be a good feeling.
The hair is improving month on month which I did another quick comparison below.
Thanks for the update.

Thanks @Bigmac! I'm definitely feeling more confident about it. Of course it still has a ways to go but I am pleased with the results so far. Appreciate your comparisons, they definitely help to show the progress.

Yes, plenty of time, having results early on takes some of the anxiety away from the waiting game. Enjoy your hair.

Its getting better, I was really uncertain where it would go at 4 months for myself, at 6 months it had thicken up a lot and now at 8 months it looks alright density wise except my temples, which you already know looks bad.

Your situation look a little bit better than I did at 4 months, hopefully it will keep going and in 2-4 months you will be happy! :)
