5 month update.
Still no change from month 4 to be fair ☹️, contacted the clinic who said there is no need to worry and not to expect hair growth until at least 6 months onwards.
Mentally feel worse than at the shedding stage, because I have been open and honest about the procedure with colleagues/family about where and how much they and are starting to ask questions regarding no hair growth. Obviously they are uneducated on the process but after a while you start to listen to there concerns.
Currently on finasteride, and when I was contacted by the clinic regarding my progress they suggested oral minoxidil. Not very keen on the idea to be fair and will see what happens.
Ok could be a slow grower but the doubt is really set in deep at the moment and finding it hard to shake. Hopefully over the next 4 weeks I will start to see some real noticeable hair growth, which at the 6 month mark I would at least like to see some improvement.

Hold in there Johnboy 5 months is still early days. I saw the biggest improvement around the 8 month mark. Can you post some recent pictures??

Five months is still relatively early in the process, you absolutely will have more growth to come.
That being said, if you're experiencing no growth whatsoever at this stage, given other results from this doctor, I would have some genuine concerns.

The problem with HT’s is there is no rule book, we all react differently to the procedure. I’m looking at people with 3 months growth and they look fantastic, I’m at 3 months with a little growth.
It’s very difficult mentally to deal with hair loss. The reason most people go for the surgery is because it is effecting their mental health, rather than for vanity purposes. The HT process is still mentally demanding and there will be ups and downs.
Try to ignore the Hair Dr. bashers, especially when they have not had a procedure themselves.
I’m on Oral & Topical Min as well as Fin. I’ve not experienced any sides from any of the Meds. Id certainly recommend getting on them, especially after the amount you have spent on the procedure.
Have you tried seeing a Trichologist? They may be able to see if there are any scalp issues.
Keep on to the clinic, keep communicating and taking their advice.
Keep positive, I know it can be tough as I’ve been/am there.

It is very difficult when you see other patients or clinic results where they had a lot of growth in the early months. Human nature we compare and begin to worry. Whilst you’re not seeing growth yet, it doesn’t mean it’s not going to happen. 5 months is still to early to judge regardless of what anyone tells you. All I can suggest right now is try not to stress about it and see where you’re at in another 4-8 weeks.
If you could add a 5 month picture, same angle as your pre op in your first post we can take a look and compare.
Hoping you get a nice burst of growth soon.

And do you know what sort of density you were expecting?

I don`t see any growth yet. In your 5 month picture, the hair looks a bit thinner which could be down to you having longer hair in the before picture. As My2021story points out, you had the whole scalp covered with 3084 grafts which will only provide a thin coverage. The hairline looks to be planted at a higher density and the grafts covering the remaining scalp look to be larger groupings.
I think you will need to give it another month to see if there is growth. If no improvement, you should contact the clinic for their advice.

My main aim was to focus on the front of my head and knew that another procedure down the line would be needed. But not far off 6 months and no noticeable hair growth has concerned.
Have contacted the clinic and they want me to come in and we will see what comes from that. Just thought at the point in my journey I would have more to show for it.

Just over the 6 month mark and there still is not any real hair growth to talk about,Maybe there is but because my hair is light it is not as noticeable, though I do seem to think my fringe it starting to thicken up Went into see Dr Arshad and he looked under the microscope and he said he could see the grafts were growing and he stated that looking at me it looked like I had suffered from some shock loss earlier in the process.
They spoke about changing the regime and was given 3 months finasteride/minoxidil spray to use. Currently on Oral finasteride and had not take minoxidil due to me finding it never worked in the past.
He then spoke that if I am not happy after 13 month mark then he would do a top up untill we was happy with the result. I am hoping on hope that I see some real hair growth soon because the thought of another top up is something I don't think I could do again. It has been a mental struggle and have stayed of the forum due to me trying to compare my results with everyone else at the same mark.
I have still 6 months to go so I am trying not remain positive. The support form the clinic I have received has been brilliant to be fair and have been so supportive and the face they will what they can to achieve our result is brilliant to know and is great in a day where customer aftercare is an after thought

At 6 months you could be just starting to experience growth. If the doctor said he could see growth starting while examining your hair, then that’s a positive. The change in meds could help speed up growth and encourage miniaturised hairs to strengthen. It seems like everything is being done to aid and speed up growth. All you can do now is wait and see what happens in the coming months.

It is so difficult not to compare yourself with others and I completely understand the mental struggles, especially after having the balls to go through the procedure in the first place.
Positive that Dr. Arshad says there are hairs trying to grow through.
Did the clinic offer Oral minoxidil to you?
Keeping the hair short on top always helps things look better (especially thru the early growth phase). It did for me.
The Hair Dr clinic are so good at keeping in touch and supportive. Keep your chin up and hopefully you’ll start to get some results in the next few months.

Hold in there buddy, like I’ve have said before the biggest burst of growth came for me around the 8-9 month mark. I also find hair characteristics play a big part in how it looks when taking a photo. My hair is very fine and very blonde so when it starts growing through it’s hard for the camera to pick it up. Where as when it’s darker in colour like in the winter months my hair always looks thicker in photos because the camera picks it up better. Can you feel any new hairs coming through??

Well i have not documented my journey for a while due to reasons i can not really go into at the moment.
I will wait till the 12 month mark to pass a total judgement but to say i feel rock bottom over my progress at the moment is an understatement. ☹️

Are you at now month 10? To be honest, whilst people do grow hair later, and there is still time for improvement, I do not think you can expect much more in terms of new growth – maybe some maturation of the hair but I fear that will not give you the end result you were looking for.
Are you In contact with the surgeon and if so, have they given you any reason for your lack of result?

Hope you’re okay Johnboy, it’s a difficult year after having a transplant, need to recover mentally as well as physically.
Don’t feel rushed into getting a top up, it’s a marathon not a sprint, the clinic should agree to let you defer your treatment to when you feel ready, you shouldn’t pay for this top up either.
I know it’s easy to say, but try not to look into mirrors/take pictures under bright lights, in your latest photos you can definitely see progress in the first one under those lighting conditions, albeit not enough. Remember this is how most people will see your hair.
When you’re ready to sort it, if you can afford the cost, I’d get some paid consultations with a few other dr’s to get a second opinion on strategy/what went wrong.
