Am I balding or is it just my mature hairline?

Hi,


24m here in the UK. I've always had a high hairline and was teased by being called Jason Statham from 17/18, I normally just have my hair in a fringe and never really noticed it.

My dad has the same hairline as me and hasn't gone bald (neither has a single male relative I have that I know). I'm 24 now and it seems my hairline hasn't really changed since I was 19/20, but I can't really tell I'm worried there could be some more regression in the temples and some recommend me to go on finasteride.

I'm a bit hesitant to go on if I don't have to, not just because of all the potential libido side effects, but the possibility it could make my hair worse, if this is my natural hairline then I don't think fin will be any use anyway. My concern is if I shed and then regrow my hair I will be indefinitely dependent on fin to keep my hairline that I presently have.

I'm just a bit confused about all of this for better reference, I attached some pics. E.G, the best pics I could get of me when I was 19 and then 21 respectively. Then pics I took today at 24. How I normally style my hair to hide my high hairline, and finally a pic of my dad's hairline at 43 for reference.

Hi Liam.

Your hairline is a little high but not too bad in my opinion. I’d say my own hairline was like yours when I was 24 but mine was slowly receding. Hair loss runs in my family.
Looking at your fathers hairline, it’s good and if it stays as is, most men would be extremely happy with it I`d say.
I think if you’re not losing any hair then you should do nothing. Your hair looks good with it combed forward in the trendy messy look.
The people who made fun of your hairline could end up losing their own hair in the future. Then it won’t be so fun.

At 24 as said you are still young..the loss is minimal and meds should be the first port of call and not chasing loss..If worried about DHT blockers then look into minoxidil but don't rush into a hair transplant and don't take to heart the comments. I know now easy to listen to this but from a clinic with a doctor with 20 years experience you should not rush into surgery.

Go on meds to keep what u have
As u aged ur face will fill out and change etc so your forehead will match if u know what i mean
If it were me
Go on meds stick to ur cool hairstyles for now cos believe me when u get older u will just want a classic short back and sides longish on top
Dont even think about a hair transplant mate u dont need it
See a top clinic see what they say
If they agree to do a transplant now run for the hills
Prevention is key for u at this time

Meds have disadvantages though, tbh I'd rather just get my hairline lowered I hear its 1500-2000. People have said I look like I'm balding since I was 17. But my hairline hasn't changed, although I'm insecure about it and can touch my hair hundred times a day to readjust it .

Mate i had my ist transplants at 23yrs old im now 42 yrs old and still not happy
Main reason is way the transplants were put in but another main reason i didnt think i would ever get more hairloss
So didnt go on meds
In all honestly i wish i never had any transplants at all its runied me
I dont want it 2 happen 2 u, u might think i was one of the unlucky ones,, thats what i thought at your age u know
Wont happen 2 me etc etc

By the way i had 3 hair transplants in the same areas and its still see through fake looking
I think all transplants look unatraul
Its how u style it
Be careful dont want to see u on here at 42yrs old

Yeah I know transplants aren't the perfect solution - but it seems like the only option. For me I don't think fin or min will do any good as it's about hair regrowth but my hair has always been like this.

Maybe biotin will help my hair feel more healthy and thick at the moment it does feel kinda thin and unhealthy.

U look good mate but we are our own worst critic also bet ur mates hair looks brilliant ha
Maybe try new style etc
Leave transplant for now maybe go to few clinics see what they reccomand ie meds or non surgical treatments

Hi Friend

take it easy , your hair looks fine and I had the same comments thrown at me when i was 17years -19 years old as I had a high hairline , you do not need a HT right now , try the hair loss meds first if their are any side effects just stop , I was 51years old when i got my 1st HT and using the medications its even got better . Do not rush into it your looks fine at present , do some research and check family members for hairloss history . All the best

I am more concerned about becoming dependent on them and if the shredding happens I'll need to keep using fin to keep the hairline I currently have

I know mate know how u feel
But hairloss is progressive
I think if u dont want to go on meds etc before a transplant u run a massive risk of balding behind ur transplant meaning more transplants etc
I think maybe just be happy with what u have u might not even lose hair just have the high forehead which i wouldn't have noticed
Remember as u get older it wont effect u as much as it does now

This forum cuts through the bullshit and tells u the truth about transplants etc
Honstly mate u look good and trust me if u didnt regards to ur forehead and hairloss if u have any we would say
Have u ever thought about a partial front hair system
That way u can lower ur hairline and it wont effect ur orignal hair
Maybe thats a option
