Thanks Bm.

It was a good day yes, really enjoyable. I've been advised by the clinic to wait 7 days before washing so for now, it can just look unsightly. It was a strange feeling taking the bandage off and getting air to the donor area. It felt like the sides and back of my head were wet

It looks to be healing well. There's a few scattered blotches of dried blood which are nothing to worry about.
At least you can stay indoors without giving a reason during the lockdown. Your first hair wash will feel good. Only 2 more days to go.
Has all the swelling gone?

It has gone down yes. I was a little worried at first because the left hand side of my hairline looked uneven compared to my right. Impatience and over-worrying...that's all it was.

Day 7 - First wash!

Pictures below after the first wash. I was told to leave the shampoo on for 10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with a jug of water. Once the shampoo was massaged into my head the sides and back of my head started to itch and I had a blotchy mark on my forehead and on the back of my neck (maybe because of the chemicals in the shampoo). It was nothing untoward and this subsided within 20 minutes of rinsing.

I've been advised to use aloe vera gel to put on after each wash to help with the dryness.

Looking forward to being able to resume a normal sleeping position tonight!

I also got sent pre and post op photos yesterday (now attached). Moving forward I'll post pictures in here on a weekly basis.

It is. Went and bought aloe gel today as my scalp gets really dry once washed. I reckon a couple more washes and I'll be scab free. The donor area looks amazing already!

Your hairline design looks fantastic; not just saying this, but it genuinely looks natural. Also, from the Day 9 photo, your donor area scarring doesn’t look too noticeable considering you are only 9 days post opp.

What a great time for you to get this done....you’ll be in good shape once the UK eventually re-opens again!

Day 14

Still numb in places on the scalp and a little tender in places in the donor area. I think I'm now entering the shedding phase as you can tell that my temples are starting to thin. Scab-free and now allowed to exercise - was nice to be able to sweat again! Didn't take long after the 2 weeks off.

Hi Greg.
Good to hear the swelling went fairly quickly. You have healed very well with everything looking great.
Getting back to your daily routine helps to keep your mind off your HT. With you having a dry scalp, I`ve been using an all natural shampoo Pura d or. It works great, leaves the scalp feeling healthy and refreshed.
The pain in certain areas happens to some. I had this once with one of my FUE`s. Not much you can do about it until it heals. I use to take a pain pill before bed which helped a lot.
Thanks for the updates.
All the best.
Bm.

Day 21 - shed in full flow and still pink in a few places. Been advised to continue using aloe gel before it subsides (I stopped using aloe after around 10 days as I thought it was only for they dryness).

That's looking good - it dosent look too red on the pics to me.
Your donor area looks to have recovered very well too with your hair growing to cover it.

I remember my hair looking bad for a few months as it shed and all grew at different amounts but round about the 4 month mark I started venturing out without a hat after I’d had a few hair cuts. The first few months are horrible but it will all be worth it in the long run. I’m 8 months in and it’s changed my life both visually and mental health wise.

Sure you can just style it out as a lockdown hair cut! Looking in here it seems the best route is to just then keep it short for those first few months and just push through - stay focused on the end goal!
