Contradictory advices from doctors: finasteride vs dudasteride, PRP vs. Mesotherapy, conceiving a child, etc.

Went to two different clinics. One told me they would get me started on dudasteride (which is a better version of finasteride?), do platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections, give minoxidil, and would recommend against trying to have a child while on finasteride/dudasteride because there's a small chance that if it's a boy, the male genitalia can become genetically deformed. PRP every 2 months for 3 sessions to start with, then probably once every 4-6 months for a couple of years, then maybe once a year.

Went to another clinic and got a completely different advice: there hasn't been much study on dudasteride so we would stick with finasteride, PRP doesn't work because the blood already circulates there so they would do another type of injection called mesotherapy (an injection of vitamins, some finasteride, etc.). Trying to conceive a child is fine as it's never been proven that this small amoutn of finasteride is harmful to a fetus. Minoxidil of course. And the mesotherapy sessions would be once a month for a year, then maybe gradually less thereafter.

Was really disappointed, because they're both doctors and apparently two different doctors can give two different advice.

Anyone else knows what to do in this situation? Any advice?

My background: It started around when I was 20, but very slowly. At around 25 years old, I started taking finasteride. My hair is very thin but I don't have a bald patch (the crown is the worst part).

Thanks

Has the Finasteride stabilised your hair Loss? Do you have pictures showing the difference from 20 to now?

lol, i guess everyone's here to get information but no one really knows anything, haha. Maybe there's a subreddit that can help!

As for Finasteride, I think it helped. Of course, I'll never know what would've happened if I didn't take Finasteride, but I was under the impression that my hair was getting thinner and thinner and I was losing more and more hair, although I still had more than enough. Once I took it, I felt it did stabilize it. After a while I started taking a quarter of a 5mg finasteride every other day, and I think it was then that the thinning sloooooowly came back. I decided to buy and switch back to 1mg every other day (cuz I had read that it's still 95% effective, but don't recall the source) once my 5mg pills were finished. But I screwed up by putting them in the 5mg bottle, and then 6 months later when I had to start those pills I completely forgot they were 1mg and not 5mg. So I ended up taking a quarter of the 1mg pills for a good 5-6 months and yes, my hair got worse!

Sorry, no pictures :)

You could ask the doctors you consulted with about each other’s recommendation. If your hair loss accelerated after taking the lower dosage, then I`d say the 1mg was working. Stay on 1mg and see what happens. As for not knowing anything, “lol” brutal! Dudasteride is a typo on your behalf. Dutasteride is stronger than Finasteride. Only Finasteride is FDA approved to treat hair loss.
Dutasteride blocks/inhibits an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase. It prevents your body from converting testosterone into an androgen hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
Maybe the first clinic thinks your hair loss is aggressive enough to recommend Dutasteride. PRP may work. Some people do respond to it. Same for Mesotherapy. You won’t know unless you try it.
Take a look at the regimen this patient has used. Hair loss regimen You may find the information useful.
Wishing you the best of luck with your treatments.

I had never heard of CRP before. I gather it's relatively new? I live in barcelona and did a quick search to see if there are any clinics out there that provide the treatment, but nothing came up. Need to dig a bit deeper.

Here you can read about it. Maybe ask Dr Cole about it.
One thing for sure, not all PRP type treatments are the same. It has been evolving for years. Certain doctors put a lot of time and investment researching an d improving these methods.
