Dr Christian Bisanga - Repair Case - 2400 FUE Grafts - WIP

Hello all,

I am happy to share my repair case with you.

Last year, Oct 2021 - I went to visit Dr. Bisanga for a consultation. My case was quite tricky since I did a previous hair transplant at a well-known global Hair Restoration Clinic in 2018. However, the surgeons who did my case totally destroyed my donor zone in the back. They took 1500 grafts, placed it in the crown and left lots of scars.

Dr. Bisanga recommended to split my intervention into two sessions of surgery to be more optimal to repair the damages which was done. On this first surgery he took 2400 grafts (2000 from the sides & 400 from beard).

6 months later, you can see the results The hairline is very well made and my donor zone is doing amazingly well.

Also it was a superb follow-up experience with Stephen who's always here to give all tips!! Such a great team !

I have my next intervention in two weeks to fill in the mid-scalp.

Many thanks for your post Christopher and congratulations. At only 6 months you are showing great improvement and an already impressive transformation.

You clearly had a challenging starting point pre surgery but considering only 2400 grafts were used, this would appear to have achieved a very nice coverage and appropriate density throughout your frontal area.

I wish you the best in your upcoming subsequent surgery with Dr. Bisanga and I look forward to following your updates.

Hi Christopher. I’m sorry to hear you had a poor surgery first time with another clinic. This second surgery by Dr Bisanga is looking good for only 6 months. Your frontal appearance with a full hairline takes away a balding look.
Your donor and lateral hump area look to have improved. Are you taking any hair loss meds?
You`re having your second surgery in 2 weeks time. Usually it’s 12 months between surgeries but I note that you’ll be having a separate area transplanted which will eliminate any chance of piggybacking grafts. How many grafts are planned for this one?
It would be great if you would allow the clinic to add your pictures from your surgery.

Would you say it is frontal half you had covered with this one? That side view picture at 6 months really shows a big change. The donor side looks thinner now but if you even it out by taking more from the back would this look better overall? Maybe some SMP!

Yes the first surgery was horrible...

I am indeed taking meds since last 5 months. I am on topical finasteride (2.5%) & oral minoxidil (5mg)

I just did a minor intervention - approximately 600 grafts in the midscalp - connecting the crown (from the 1st surgery) and the frontal (2nd one). I will put a picture in a few days

I still have donor left, hence - I will go a forth FUE probably later to see if I can put some grafts in the temple area and maybe having a slightly better frontal.

Good point - I will go for SMP for sure, to give a better illusion of more volume but also to hide the scars I had with my first surgery..

That is a shocking donor. Was it DHI India? Who was the doctor?

I did the transplant at DHI Mauritius. DHI Mauritius doesn't have any FUE Surgeon. Once a month, the surgeon comes to the island to perform the surgeries that were booked.

In regards to the name of the Surgeon - They did not give me anything. But I guess it was a Surgeon from the Indian branch since in the automated message of the global page - they are giving the link of the Indian website.

I managed to do a video call with the surgeon (with the advisor who handled my request) after the surgery and he told me that I should not cut my hair short. And gave me a quote if I want to come back for SMP to hide the scars he left and for a next surgery.

Wow, that`s crazy he thought you would just go back for more surgery and smp after the sub-par work. I think you should message him and give him This advice. Make your next trip to Mauritius a training session with Dr Bisanga.

Hahaha, I was shocked too!! I came for a complaint and they were trying to upsell. For them it is normal that they did.

Worst thing is that I paid approximately 2.5 EUR per graft - which is nearly the same price as with the good clinics like BHR.

I’ll take a look at their results when I get a moment. They may have thought you know very little about hair transplants and that’s why they were up selling to you.
There are quite a few clinics out there that charge high prices for average work at best.

At least you’re now in the capable hands of Dr B.

Despite a more conservative graft count, naturally with such a delicate case such an approach is necessary and you have already come a long way.

Your case and updates present an excellent example of the effectiveness of a quality surgery and how this can be further supported with a regimen of medication!

Thanks for the video. The live surgery part is very educational. Taking all the grafts from the sweet spot and leaving a tv screen look on the back of his head is a common mistake I see. A member did ask about over harvesting on another thread. Someone had posted elsewhere saying over harvesting is when the whole done has been abused but as Dr Bisanga points out, only the back of his head was over harvested. Any area no matter the size can be over harvested.
Having a few grafts scattered in his crown was a waste as pointed out by Dr Bisanga.
Dr Bisanga also made a good point about research and hopefully, getting it right the first time. People really do need to research. I often see threads asking who should I go to, who is the best etc. They are ok for advice but should not be used as, you will get the result you want if you choose one of the clinics others have mentioned.
It’s nice to see difficult repair cases like this get fixed.
