Thankyou for your comments John, I must say that I did feel I was being berated for simply saying a few encouraging words about your HT, which looks very good 'thus far.'

This forum is littered with comments by all sorts of posters at this stage of HT's with no adverse reaction whatsoever.

No. This is touching a nerve with some because your HT was done in the UK, and I agree it does the forum no credit whatsoever.

The reason why i started to get posts from pacman et al is because I posted a good experience with Dr Rogers and suggested that people in the UK should look closer to home. There are many good HT surgeons in the UK from my research and the evidence from the market. My experience (thus far) to the point of post op had been extremely satisfying.

My original post is what started the table tennis match. I understand sparky had a poor experience with Dr Rogers so he has a right to critique, The point is I didn't invite him to. As for PACMAN aka tweedle dum he can't resist casting his expertise advice and years of experience - even though he's never been through one and I guess given the time he's been registered probably never will. In life many people talk the talk but seldom walk the walk. Pity really because I am sure everyone on this site would love to see his choice of surgeon and surgery, the pictures and read about his overall experience.

Looks like it will never happen though as maybe pacman isn't a real HT patient but someone connected to a US or syndicate of US practices.

You based in the UK?

Of course I am dissecting yours because you're the agitator. Any way you should stop this continuous back seat driving. I haven't asked you to critique my experience or interfere with positive messages from good citizens of this site that wish to leave them for me.

If you aren't going through with a HT then why are you on this site on nearly a daily basis - do you not have a job to do? or is this your job?

I came to this thread rather late but found it most interesting, though the banter does get alittle daft at times!

I am UK based and am specifically interested in UK FUE, I have my own reasons why I cannot travel (see other threads). The Belgian clinics are superb however and I have met them and their reps.

Dr Rogers is the most experienced HT surgeon in the UK and although Sparky sadly had a poor HT some time ago Dr Rogers stats (by way of searching endlessly for problems) stack up well. Early adpoters of HT where guinea pigs in many ways and most of the docs back then were learning their craft. Things are progressing rapidly now and some clinics are making hay on the back of the pioneers.

If you search hard enough as I have, and I mean really search using search engines local to the clinic, (I have the language skills fortunately) all clinics have problems. Some of the linked/sponsered clinics here have had problems but I don't see that as anything abnormal, everything has a risk and what looks advanced now will no doubt look barbaric in ten years time!

You made a good choice with Dr Rogers, nobody's been around longer and he's in the same country if you need anything - supposed to be a really decent bloke as well.

Looking forward to more updates.

The name of the forum is Hairloss Experiences where does it state you need to have had a HT to be a member? How do you know what my intentions are with regards having a HT? Who's putting words in who's mouth now?

There you go again proclaiming me to be an expert i've lost count the number of times i have corrected you on this beating the same old drum

I have been a member a little over 15 months yet this short period of time seems to qualify me as some form of veteran in your eyes who will never take the leap of faith! What the hell has the amount of time i'm a member of this forum got to do with reducing the probability of me having a HT.

Just because you done a quick Google search before breakfast and spoke to a guy that knew a guy and before dinner you you were in a chair getting a HT doesnt mean we all have to follow suit.

Your name calling is unbelievably immature especially given your age. As i said previous go back to updating your progress.

Hi Sweetfreedom

Thanks for the background info. I looked at FUE but decided it wasn't for me at this point in my hairloss. I couldn't have my hair shaved for a start off due to my work and my head shape just doesn't suit it. Once my hair line is fixed then I wouldn't have a problem with a number one as it would provide a better frame on my face. I think going forward if I need my crown done then I might select FUE.

The thing is I found it quite difficult to find FUE surgeons in the UK. I beleive the Farjo's do it as does Dr Reddy (i think he may have done rooney's) and believe it or not but Rodgers did say he does it also. I have no idea as to the results of FUT vs FUE but there is a lot of examples on this forum.

I actually found the whole FUT quite liberating - my hair is very thick at the back side/top area so by removing the donor area the density has been reduced. My scar has virtually gone - on one side its so thin my partner struggled to see it under a torch light. The right side of the scar area is still a tinge red - it took a little while longer for the right to heal/reduce swelling (4-5 days) but nothing worth worrying about. I didn't even need to get a doctor to take the stiches out either. They just dissovled and or came away. Knowing I had that area removed, like I say, has been liberating as its all part of find balance of densisty and coverage over my head.

Good luck in your pursuit. I hope you are able to find the surgoen thats right for you.

I am in the waiting game now. Its a weird feeling having all the hair transplanted and then watching it grow over a couple of weeks only for it to pretty much all shed. Its not bad though as it gives you an idea as to what it might look like. The redness in the recipient area is nearly all gone with just a slight pigmentation of the skin which under close scrutiny does show the new hairline. So I put on a little cover up, not much though. I can't wait for it to go completely so I can resume swimming with my kids and friends. I did experience, or so I thought, a little further thining at the front of the existing hairline but now after 5 weeks my hair has settled down and its looks not different to how it was before I had my FUT. Not one of my friends or work colleagues suspects a thing which is unbelievable. Now its done I am so pleased with myself that I went through with it. Every day that goes bye now is hopefully a step closer to seeing it start to grow. I hope to see some results by christmas and by summer of next year a new barnet to show off.

I've prepared myself mentally if it doesn't take hold but I'll keep my fingers crossed all the same that my physical make up is in good shape for it to work.

Let me know what you end up doing.

All the best

johnboy

I am alittle envious that you have taken the plunge, must be very exciting

I would have every confidence in Dr Rogers myself but wasn't sure if he did FUE to any significant degree, I think I read somewhere that 90% of his HT's were FUT which makes me think that maybe FUE just isn't his bag? There is just one example of FUE on his website.
My hair suits being short as it's quite coarse and short does suit my face. Whenever I've tried to grow my hair out people have said I look like a scarecrow and when am I getting it cut!

Another thing is receding hair actually suits me, in as much as for many years I adopted a short swept-back unkempt look that had me likened to Clint many many times....not so bad?! But of course as the years have marched on the receding look has nearly given way to the balding look! I have truely vasalated so much as to whether I actually need to do anything at all, and now resigned to only doing something if it's just right for me.

If Dr Rogers promoted FUE I would be at his door but I would want to see some evidence that his FUE work was as accomplished as his FUT work. I was very interested in the Doctor who did Rooney's hair for the Harley Street Hair Clinic and will look into that. His FUE looks incredible 'thus far'...noted in tonight's game against Wales what a transformation it has been to him and how it's boosted his confidence.

I will start a thread on FUE in the UK and hopefully it will get a response from the clinics so we can see some results.

Hi Johnboy, just re-reading some threads and wondered how you were doing?

Are you around ten weeks post op now?

Hi,

Yes, i am 2.5 months post op. Its the longest 2 odd months that I've ever experienced.

The hair all pretty much fell out by week 5. Since then everything has been good.

Life has been pretty normal with no major disruption apart from not been able to go swimming due the noticeable line at the top of my forehead where the new grafts have been transplanted.

It was red for a good few weeks and still is on one small area. Because of this each day I have to use cover up to disguise it.

On week 6 onwards I have been all consumed by the waiting game and at any possible moment i can get look intently for any signs of growth.

Re growth did start on week 7. I noticed small and very fair hairs sprouting out, particularly at the top of the sides. The single hair grafts along the lowest part of the new line came in quickly too. They were quite spikey to touch. I've had to shave those off as it looked a bit strange having these single hairs growing with nothing above it. The hair growing nearest my existing hair line is definitely growing quicker than at the front. It €™s quite long in parts now but because each hair is so fine it isn €™t creating any sort of density. Its nice to feel it though and it reminds me of the progress that €™s being made.

It €™s a very strange feeling watching new hair grow after all these years of seeing my hairline recede. Its also very exciting.

It really is early days yet and i would also say what has grown is not worth taking a picture of. Its so fine it wouldn't show up in a photo really.

From looking at most other examples on the forum I think 3-4 months post op is when people start to notice regrowth so I'm probably just ahead of schedhule. Its probably a good 6-8months before any thickness is created so hopefully by early new year ill start to get the hairline that Dr Rogers put in place.

Johnboy, thanks for the update.

Sounds like everything is as it should be at this stage and you are waiting for the much vaunted and exciting 'four month mark'.

The shedding must be difficult but then you would have known that has to happen for the new growth phase to start.

I look forward very much to seeing some pictures in a couple of months time, could be a nice xmas present to yourself!

My quest hasn't progressed too much, the whole UK FUE sudject seems shrouded in mystery with doctors and patients unwilling to post here or anywhere else for that matter. though there has been many thousands of good results all invisible.

Dr Reddy seems the only route thus far for UK FUE but most are disparaging about him here, mainly due to lack of decent info rather than anything 'bad' unearthed.

Regards

I agree with you regarding lack of good information on UK surgeons. I think most of them don't participate in these forums because they know as soon as they do there are people moving against them to promote their own practices or favourite surgeons.

If a surgeon has a great track record with many clients either returning or recommending them then why the need to put your reputation on the firing line in these forums. Best be quiet I would say particualry if they dont have the resources to emply someone in PR who is on these sites all day. Bad news always travels faster than good news so if the UK surgeons were that bad then there would be many 100's of bad reviews on these sites. That's my take on it. I think you should go and see him at least. Work out for yourself whether he's any good and ask for patient testimonials - ie ones you can speak with.

Anyway good luck.

Johnboy, thanks

Yes I tend to agree with you, most stay clear of the forums for the reasons you suggest, but still surprised there are so few patients showing off their results. Maybe people get a decent result and don't want to make it a lifetime's work showing it off with the risks of being 'found out!'

I will definately meet with Dr Reddy soon and I have more than enough knowledge now to make my own mind up. Without re-reading everything, did you see Dr Reddy yourself and if so what did you think?

So, my 4 month has just passed and its been a very interesting period.

The hair started growing after on 4th week which was one week after most of the hairs shed.

Slowly but surely the hair begin to sprout out - at first mainly on the bottom of the hair line and then at the top of the temples. Not much was growing in between though so it meant I had to start shaving the bottom hairs so as not to look obvious I've had something done.

I have been very conscious of not showing the hairline so have had to use cover up as redness of the skin has stayed with me for a long time. It is starting to go now and has virtually dissappeared on the left side.

The photo does not do justice to the amount of hair that has grown as the hair is very fine at this stage but you can see at the top of the temples how its starting to fill in and thicken up.

I believe I am a 3rd of the way through the growing phase of my new hair so I am very excited as to the potential result given whats sprouted in 4 months. There are lots of stubble under neath the soft hair so it gives me encouragement there is still plenty to come through.

So, all in all I'm very happy with the progress so far and I'll post another pic on month 5.

JB

All looking good thanks. I should of put up another photo by now. Her is a shot taken at 10 months with a dollop of hair gell. I am gonig back to get some work done on the crown and to add a little bit of density to the area behind where the work was done. Even though I booked my appointment through Vinci - it wasnt them that did the work. Because I wanted it done in London they referred the job to Dr Richard Rogers of the Westminster clinic. If you are getting him then you'll be in good hands. What are you getting done?

Look fantastic Johnboy, you must be over the moon with the results!

I am having a FUT procedure of 2500 grafts done with Vinci Hair Clinic in their Malaga, Spain surgery. Have always had a windows peak but have noticed that it is starting to recede considerably.

One area of concern I have is scalp elasticity. I want to ensure that my scalp is flexible enough to remove the maximum amount of grafts. Did you do any scalp stretching exercises before your procedure? Im not sure if this is an important thing to do as Vinci have mentioned it but not really said any more about it

Thanks Johnboy

Adam
