Extreme scabbing

Hi everyone,

I had my hair transplant done in Turkey 10 days ago (FUE). It was 4800 graft and it took 7 hours.

I have been following their instructions snd washing gently daily but it seems that the dry blood and the scabs are extreme and causing me a lot of concern.

After my 10 day wash, other area have cleaned well expected the middle part (as shown in photo)

I contacted them but no response which even more alarming.

Please help.

From what I have seen I do not think it is necrosis but more so stubborn scabs that you can soak until the tissue soften and washes off. Paying a visit to your GP to have it checked for infection that might need antibiotics is worth doing. What clinic did you have this done by?

I don't usually jump on threads when the patient goes to another clinic and when it comes to aftercare but this is looking like necrosis..you should go and see a doctor..

I'd agree with both; go to see a doctor as soon as possible to make sure it's not necrosis or infected.

@Xavier4800 As Sl says, this looks like Necrosis.
I`d say Kevboy is thinking the scabs are separate, not one big mass which has thrown off his judgement here. There are examples of heavy crusting/dry healing that can look similar but this is not one of them.
I can see the tissue damage where these scabs have came off. You should seek medical attention from your family doctor or a dermatologist. Antibiotics are usually required to fight off the infection.
4800 grafts is a big surgery to be completed in 7 hours. Do you have pictures from the surgery?

I went to my local doctor and he said it's not infected and have me on antibiotics for now. I don't have photos from then unfortunately. The technician who did it, advice to continue washing for few more days with light tapping on it. I am not sure what to do! Tomorrow is day 11 post op

If no infection, why has the doctor put you on antibiotics?

Unfortunately, your scabbing spread from day 6. Scabs should have decreased, not increased.
Hopefully, the antibiotics you have will help clear this up.
I still believe it is necrosis.

In my non medical but years of experience opinion it is pretty bad.
The scabs have increased a lot in 4 days. What did the doctor you visited say it was if not necrosis?
Treatable as in you can prevent it from spreading and clear it up but the damage may well be done if you’re left with scar tissue with little or no growth.

Enlarging the pictures I see it is worse than I initially thought. The scabs are growing in size which most likely means it is necrosis. Treatment by a doctor is necessary to prevent more damage.

As others pointed out, it is important that you see a Doctor in person as soon as possible to diagnose and tell you how to treat it.

It looks hemorhagic due to vascular damage to sub dermal tissue. The resulting dried blood and scabs can suffocate the tissue Causing it to die. Medical treatment is a certain to contain and heal.
