Female Hair Transplant for Alopecia Areata

Hi Forthegirls

Thank you for posting. I didn't much like losing my hair, but I'm the first to acknowledge it is harder for women. Our culture expects women to have glorious hair.

Can I ask how old you are? I am asking out of curiosity and because I don't know if the 45 in your name is a clue or just a number. If the question seems impertinent or rude to you please just disregard it.

I hope you get an outstanding result and a new lease of life the way I did.

Regards, Modenese.

Hi, no it was not painful, just a bit uncomfortable, the nurse was very interested and said she had never seen anything like it, had taken out less stitches for brain surgery.

The scar line apparently is perfect, I can obviously feel it, but it gets better each day and the top of my head is a bit numb in some areas and sensitive in others.

Overall and considering what has been done, and only 3 weeks on, it is all going very well.

Thanks for you interest. FTG

Hi Modenese

Yes, well guessed I am 45 yrs, the pre op photos look particularly bad, and do upset me, I think I've obviously been doing a very good job at covering up, as the few people that have seen the pics are very surprised.

I am 3 weeks on now and a week back at work and no-one has noticed anything except a slight change in hair style, which I have explained as a New Year's thing of no colouring or straightening for a while. I've gone natural.

It is very sad to see the transplanted hairs go (I still have a few left), but if it grows in I will be over the moon. I think I had a little bit of shock loss but nothing drastic, but I am not sure if this could still happen or I am over the worst?

The whole experience has been both easy and hard, the first week was a bit of a challenge but completely worthwhile if the results are good.

It has also been a bit of an emotional roller coaster but I have such a great partner who has helped me, supported me, and put up with me! He also has loads more hair than me!!!

Thank you for your good wishes.

FTG

It's quite an improvement. I know you had an extensive loss to a large area.

Happy to hear the procedure and result has been "life changing" for you. The donor scar looks superb!

Well done!

Thank you very much, it really has. My confidence has improved and I don' t spend the entire time worrying about my hair!
I am going to have a second procedure just to fill in a bit more. It was all a bit of a gamble, and I cannot thank Dr Ball for taking a chance on me, he actually is my hero.FTG

Welcome back, it's great to see final results and hear how it's been a life changing event for you. Although 2300 is not considered a big surgery it has made a huge impact on your appearance for the better. Dr Ball has planned your surgery well. I'm really pleased for you.
How many grafts are you hoping for on the next procedure.
All the best.
