I see, that would seem a while if you just want to get it done faster. Well if you have any questions about my experience with The Hair Dr, just let me know, although I imagine you've got a pretty good idea from being on this forum.
Thanks yeah, this actually my 2nd transplant so I kind of know most things (I think). I've also just booked in with Arshad now as i've managed to get some time off work.

Ah, I see. In that case, you'll know more than me :). Glad to hear you've made your decision and booked in with The Hair Dr. They'll take good care of you and are very nice, professional people. Good luck with it and enjoy your new hair!

7 Calendar Months Post-Op

Hi everyone,

I'm now seven months in and there's not much to report, I'd say. I see some maturation in the hairline, but the biggest difference is that my hair is becoming quite unruly to style. The other day, my dad asked me if I was trying to imitate Jedward (if anyone remembers them), as I've let it grow quite long on top and have only tidied up the back and sides since the day of the HT. So, a proper haircut will be in order for the eight-month photos to build some texture into the top, otherwise applying product has quite a clumpy effect. And I'm too old to look like Jedward.

As ever, these photos were taken under a harsh light that really brings you back down to earth =/.

Best wishes,
Matt

It would be good to see some proper before and after pictures for a side by side comparison to see progress.

Looking nice and thick, but definitely need a hair cut!

Words of wisdom right there, @Hoping_for_hair ! And thank you very much for the kind words. I think the unruly length is actually having a negative effect on how I see myself, so that's definitely a reason to get it fixed. I think when your dad says it to you, you know it's time .

Hope you're post-op journey is going well!

Hey @alex5, thank you for this and I have the haircut on my to-do list ! I've been following your progress and I was very impressed with your 4-month photos. Very promising early growth!

You know, I was so ashamed of my appearance before my HT that I couldn't stand having my photo taken, so I don't actually have any pre-op photos apart from the two from my first post, taken by Dr Arshad. If I had my time again, I'd have prepared better for a proper side-by-side.

Hope you're enjoying your new hair!

I know the feeling - I always avoid photos and wish I had taken a few more before shots!

You won't need to worry about that going forward!

Thank you, @Hoping_for_hair. I reckon if we were happy to have photos taken before our HT, then maybe we wouldn't necessarily be the kinds of people that go on to have transplants. Just a thought there.

Once the final result is there, and assuming I'm happy with it (I don't know why I wouldn't be), it'll be nice to see if I can just have my photo taken and think nothing of it.

Looking good @Matt88 I have no photos of myself before my HT like you I hated looking at myself!!!
Hey @Baldingman23 thanks a lot for your post! I'm always happy to see your updates, and that you're happy with your progress, seeing as you and I had very similar hair to begin with and a similar number of grafts transplanted :D.

Crazy to think that we spent all that time unable to look at ourselves. It was a real punch in my stomach if I saw my reflection on a bad day or saw myself as unflattering in a photo. I'll be happy to leave those days behind, but it shows how absolutely shot my self-confidence was.

Hey @HTL33 apologies for the late reply and thank you for this! Glad my posts have been helpful for you. It definitely is the case that the HT hasn't solved my underlying self-esteem issues, but it was also never supposed to. What I'm grateful for, however, is that I'm not particularly triggered by my appearance anymore and that really does help.

I feel like it helps me to moderate my expectations somewhat when I post quite unforgiving photos. And if I'm happy with the result under harsh light at 12-18 months, then I guess that'll be a pretty good outcome =D!

Hope you're well,
Matt

8 Calendar Months Post-Op

Hi everyone,

Here are my 8-month photos and I definitely get the feeling that my progress has been quite limited since around the 5/6-month mark. Thanks to this forum though, my anxiety about this is much less than it could've been. Seeing others enjoy growth beyond this point gives me some hope and we'll see what happens moving toward 12 months. I also contacted Dr Arshad who was very supportive and reminded me that there are still four months yet, that I'm obviously eager to see progress, but that it also helps to keep positive about the situation. I'm grateful for that and I'm looking forward to going back to The Hair Dr for a check-up with him at 9 months.

As ever, harsh bathroom light is the order of the day for these photos. I think seeing these raised my stress levels a bit, but my partner gently reminds me that it's hardly the most flattering light to see yourself in =/.

Best wishes,
Matt

@Matt88
I’m in the same position as you, almost at the eight month mark. The doctor also advised me to hold in there till the full 12 months. Fingers crossed we Start to see some sort of results in time for the 12 month timeline!

Definitely an improvement from your pre-op photos Matt. I saw my biggest amount of progress around the 9-10 month mark

I think it is looking good, are the first few with wet hair and under a harsh light? I know you called it out but you will see though anyone's hair in those conditions!
The shots when it's dry you can really see progress so keep hanging in there!

I agree with Hoping_for_hair, you can really see the progress! Thank you for the wide range of photos each update.

I agree, I think your current position looks excellent - especially when you go back to your pre op pictures.
You've got to bear in mind that you'll not get back to a full density of hair in the transplanted area - more an illusion of density with a fraction of grafts being used when compared to what you were born with.
