Hi Deetona

The hair concealor did not cause further loss. My hair continued to fall out due to progression of Male pattern baldness and required more hair concealor to cover the thinning areas.

I did notice that when wearing higher volumes of concealor it made my hair itch so I always washed it out every other day which probably stopped my skin from breathing.

Hi All

Just thought I'd share my experiences. I am 27 and started losing my hair when I was in college. At first it was just a receding hairline but then it's got to a point now where my hair is thinning too which has made the problem even worse and really has affected my mental health over the last year or so. I spend ages in the morning trying to style my hair in a way so that my hair looks less thin and I have used concealing powders on nights out. I just hated going out with my mates who all have full heads of hair. I would even be constantly asking my family if my hair looked bad.

So I have this year decided to do something about it and researched having a hair transplant, the first place I looked at didn't fill me with confidence and all they seemed bothered about was rushing me in to get the procedure done. So I started looking around again and had a consultation at a clinic in Cheshire and they made me feel a lot better. They advised me that a transplant wouldn't be suitable for my needs as yes the transplant may save my hairline but I'd still be thinning. So I have started on a 12 month course of low light laser therapy twice a week, 10% minoxidil I rub onto my hair twice a day and propecia tablets that I take every other day. It's still early days yet, I have only been on my treatment 6 weeks and it will be at least 3 months before I see any results. Whilst I am looking forward to seeing the results it still really effects me in the meantime when people make comments about my hair. Apart from my family and best friend no one else knows what I'm having done yet.

Hi all

reading thread and a lot resonates with me...

I was always shy and introverted growing up..had no friends and never had a relationship...1990/91 noticed my hair changing at age 21/22...just felt different when i was washing it...noticed some slight temple regression...this started my long miserable obsession with my hair...through my 20s i had to arrange my hair not brush it but was getting steadily worse..got a menial job but made no friends...when i got to 27 .i discovered regaine..worked brilliantly. .hair thickened and found i could style it again and not worry...it stopped working after 18 months and hair reverted...i noticed a bald patch in a security camera..stuck with regaine but was losing battle...then jumped on to thickening spray...after a while i was outed at work and totally humiliated and forever known as the weirdo who puts schitt in his hair...was losing this battle too and after 8 or 9 years using mane decided to get a hair piece..had a meeting and chat. was scary as it meant shaving what hair i had on top..took deep breath and went for it....results looked good .been wearing for over 10 years ....its not ideal but there is no way i am ready to go out as i am...i feel like a deformed mutant looking in the mirror...i have noticed more temple regression and existing hair thinning further..it could be me being self critical but starting to look more wiggy...find myself wearing hats more on top of the wig....hairloss has pretty much destroyed my life before it even started..got to 51 with.no friends..never had a girlfriend and succession of crap jobs..no holidays or having laugh with mates...wish i had courage to kill myself but too much of a coward

Have you spoke to your family doctor or a specialist about how you’re feeling?
You really should try to speak to someone.

Hair loss caused me severe depression, the issue for is not the actual hair loss but the size of my head. I have a big and wired shape head and hair was the only thing which his my horrible head.

I just feel hair loss is a real contribution to some people's metal health but is frowned upon as " just a fact of life" as soon people say.

The cost of hair transplant mainly depends on your choice of treatment, clinic and locations. There are some reliable hair transplantation centers in the world that give you perfect results.

Where can I start?
Haha. Right now it's nearly 3pm and I'm still in bed crying because I have depression due to this.

I'm 27 and basically at home with mum. My dad died when I was young. I've tried to commit suicide twice and I'm just struggling
Yes its only hair but it means a lot to me.
I'm doing my best to save up but struggling as my job just isn't good enough.

If any doctors see this thank you for doing what you do. You are making so many people happy.

I know I wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for some people.
Sorry this needed to be said here but jts the truth.
The best part of the day is night Time for me

I'm 27, if I make it until I'm 30 then I will be so impressed with myself. Day by day. I can do this.

Sorry to hear you’re having a hard time with your hair loss and the issues you're having. Speaking to your GP is important, they can refer you to other specialists. Have you been prescribed any depression medications? I see you had some counselling that didn’t work out. Just like hair transplant doctors, they’re all different. If you had more counselling, you may get someone that really understands and helps you. I don’t know the circumstances of your fathers passing, but there’s a good chance it has effected you mentally. PTSD is being linked more and more with childhood traumatic events. While your hair loss is a concern, I think possibly it’s not the only thing going on.
Just talking to people like the Samaritans can help.
I answered on your other thread regarding your current hair loss situation. Hair transplants are wonderful when they give the patient what they were expecting. Sometimes they fail or you end up not being happy with the result. This can cause your depression to worsen. This is why hair restoration needs to be thoroughly researched and the patient have realistic expectations.
I think in your case you need to stick with the meds, although you said you may drop minoxidil which is ok. Seek some professional help via your GP, get you out of this depression, improve your hair with the Finasteride and then take a look at hair transplants if it’s still required.

Hi Bullitnut.
Thanks for sharing your story. Excessive hair loss caused by stress usually stops after the tension is relieved. Without any therapy, hair will most likely recover to its natural fullness in 6 to 9 months. At some point in their lives, everyone is faced to stress. Stress can sometimes result in a bodily reaction or symptoms.

Mental health problems can lead to hair loss. There are many different causes of hair loss, including stress, depression, anxiety, and other conditions. Hair loss can also be caused by certain medications or medical treatments.

Hair loss can cause by many different things. Diet plays a large role in hair loss. Stress can cause hair loss. Alcohol consumption can also lead to hair loss. Sleeping too little or too much can also affect your hair. Depression and hair loss go hand in hand. If you stress too much about your hair fall it will only aggravate the problem.
The physiological states of depression such as low mood, discouragement, low self-esteem, and feeling drained can happen because of hair loss. It is also important to note that some anti-depressant medications such as Prozac can have side effects that can cause hair loss.
Anxiety and stress are technically two separate conditions, however, they do overlap. The key issue between anxiety and hair loss is stress.
To deal with hair loss problems it is best to consult with a general physician or a dermatologist first. Dr. Tina Ramachander is one of the renowned dermatologists in Bangalore. Their clinic has all the latest equipment and tools to treat hair loss issues.

Hair loss can cause serious mental health issues and I've written about this a great deal to draw attention to the fact in many mainstream publications.

A new mental health platform called JAAQ.org has just launched ( I'll not link incase not allowed ) but this is a incredible space to get help on many mental health issue, including hair loss for anyone that's struggling.

Best

If the mental health is caused by hair loss would you seek treatment to rectify the hair loss first which if successful should cure the mental health if hair loss was the sole cause?
