When is it really OK to buzz cut after FUE?

There seems to be varying degrees of recommendation on this.

I am 5 weeks post FUE in where shedding is well and truly in motion. My scalp still feels uneven, but otherwise healing is on track. Native hair is really standing out from the short and wiry transplanted hair which seems to have stopped growing. Its not a great look especially as I am going into office occasionally now. HT is more noticeable due to difference in length.

One of the doctors I shortlisted before Op sent after care instructions stating (well respected IAHRS clinic) hair can be cut/trimmed with a clipper or even shaved around 10-14 days post FUE as long as your healing is on track.
Another one on stated you should only scissor cut between months 2-6.

I have also seen aftercare instructions stating you should not wear a hat for first 2 weeks. But mine provided me one to wear on the day after HT!?

I have also come across many people online who have just apparently buzz cut after a few weeks and kept doing so until real growth kicked in.

What is everyone's thoughts/experiences on that?

Hi Urban, your clinic ideally should guide as they have a duty of care and will also ask you to follow their own post surgery instructions to the letter and if you paid them for surgery then best to trust them also now as you did for the surgery itself.

Your transplanted hair is not growing as such but will be expelled upwards and out.

For myself I always shaved at 2 weeks with zero issues and used a plastic guard on my trimmer to 3mm, now I go to 1mm. I would agree with the surgeon and be careful for spots and bumps as you can tag them so that is the only caveat on trimming now.

I am speaking from experience also and not just a theory so have done it many times but of course following as your own clinic say is best.

Amazing that you discovered Dr Bisanga so long ago! Your results look great! I will also be considering beard hair for future HTs
