2550 grafts Dr. Resul Yaman September 2021

Hello there!

I thought I make my own thread here to document my journey, some of you might have seen my case on another forum.

I decided on Dr Resul Yaman for 2550 grafts in Istanbul, Turkey the 9th of September 2021.

The cost was 2350 euros including hotel with breakfast and free transfer & pickup during the whole trip.

Dr Yaman starts with having a general check on your hair quality, he then measure hair density(grafts per cm2), he then measure hair thickness, which in my case was 45 microns or 0.45mm(thin caucasian hair).

Dr Yaman then does the hairline design, followed by creating incisions(pre-made slits).

Extraction was done by Muhammet Yaman, one of his brothers with a micromotor of 0.8mm(I asked). After about half of the extractions were done, the implantation team came in and helped take out the extracted grafts.

The implantation team consisted of Öguz and Cigdem. From what I have seen these two have been with the clinic from atleast mid 2018 according to photos from their Instagram, so they must be pretty experienced techs.

I had a lunch break and they started to implant the grafts. They are using a implanter pen for this, into the pre-made slits. Total time was 10+ hours at the clinic, I was there from about 9 am and left about 7 pm.

Welcome to the forum Digi23 and thanks for sharing your hair restoration journey with Dr Yaman. I recall chatting to him at one of the World FUE Institute workshops.
The work extractions and placement look good. Those grafts are densely packed which should provide a very nice result. The temple points look a little aggressive immediately post op but judging by your loss pattern I think they`ll look good once grown out. A picture from a few feet away showing how they look now would be great.

What is your age? Are you on any hair loss prevention regimen?

At 5 months the growth looks good. Your new hairline is there which should be framing your face nicely. Again, a picture from a few feet away would show this. There are a couple of 2 hair grafts I see on your hairline, these probably won`t be noticeable once everything is grown out.

At 5 months the growth looks good. Your new hairline is there which should be framing your face nicely. Again, a picture from a few feet away would show this. There are a couple of 2 hair grafts I see on your hairline, these probably won`t be noticeable once everything is grown out.

I am 27 years old, I am currently not using Finasteride but thinking about it in the future, my girlfriend and I is having a baby so for now I am not going to take it. My brother is 5 years older than me and he have no loss whatsoever. My father have recession only, much like me but a little bit more. He had not lost anything when he was in his 40s.

Not to jinx it but I have had these temple peaks since I was in my 18s really. I have some old photos with the exact same recession. I have lived under a cap for the past 10 years, I got sick of it thats why I did the transplant. I do not experience any unnatural hairloss at this time aswell, but as I said I am well aware of Finasteride and I am going to start taking it when the time is right.

I have some weak spots as you can see on these photos from distance aswell, the temples look decent when I wear my hair abit longer but look a little unnatural if I do for example a skin fade.

I have actually been in contact with Dr Bruno Pinto to maybe adress the temples and add some density since I dont really think with my thin hair calibre I will have enough density with 40 grafts/cm2, but he wanted me to get back to him at month 10 to see how I feel then, and he would not operate on me until 12 months have passed.

But I think its already a big improvement from how I looked before and I have to have patience, its still early days at only 5 months.

Your recession wasn`t that bad for a male of 27 years of age. I understand your caution regarding the use of Finasteride while trying for a baby. Hopefully, you have good news soon regarding conceiving. Your family hair loss history is a positive for you. There is a high chance you won`t recede or lose any more hair which would be excellent for you. Having the same temples since 18 is another positive. Rather than start Finasteride, you could monitor your hair for any signs of loss and then decide if you need it.
40 grafts per cm2 should be enough to provide adequate density.
As for your temples. that last picture would indicate you have multi grafts placed too far forward. Temples should be all singles for the first cm, then 2 hair units as your transplanted grafts blend in with your native hair on the sides
Time will tell how your temples and hairline will look, waiting is the only option for now. The advice offered by Dr Pinto is spot on, see what it's like at 10 months, it should provide a fairly accurate evaluation of what it will look like, then book your next surgery if that`s how you wish to proceed.

Some people are happy once everything grows out, others are not and want it to mimic nature which is what it should do.

Do the temple grafts lay flat? A common mistake I see is clinics that don`t place them flat to the skin which makes them grow at the wrong angle and stand out more.

I think they lay pretty flat, this side is LESS flat but still decent I think. I think the hair is different color than the donor area, looks almost black, its not even that color in the donor, a little weird. I think thats why it stands out.

What do you think?

I’ve seen a few change colour when transplanted. It usually rectifies itself over time. The darker colour will make them stand out more as will any multi or coarse hairs.
What has Dr Yaman said about the multi grafts you have?
Did the techs wear any magnification?

I think the guy extracting did use magnification. The techs did definitely not use magnification.

To be honest with you, the after care have been non-existant. I have written to them to ask for a real graft breakdown but no answers. Not sure what to do about this.

This is also why I plan another procedure with Dr Bruno Pinto to FUE out some doubles/multis out of the hairline and temples and also add some more density.

To be honest I think Dr Yaman is a good guy, the problem is that they are doing 3 patients a day so he does not really have time and he does not seem to have fully control on his tech teams, since they obviously after quite a few years working there, still is not doing it like it should be with only singles for the first rows.

All you can do for now is wait and see what the temples look like after fully grown in.

Maybe they never kept an accurate graft breakdown. As for the multis, an explanation from them would be helpful.
