Hi everyone, I wanted to give a quick update. February 14th will be my one year mark. First, I will say I'm VERY pleased with my results. Unfortunately I have had some serious issues with my surgery in November and may have to undergo another major one. I meet with a differant surgeon tomorrow that I was sent to by by original surgeon. I had wanted to be at SMG in March for photo's and consult, however that does not seem likely at this point. I let Janna know that I will have a series of photo's taken around the one year mark and I will be sending them to her. I will include wet/dry and gel. I have been getting "low lights" every two months, which still allows for a more "salt and pepper" look. I like it and it seems to make my hair look fuller. I plan on having one more procedure in February of 2014, this would be to refine a few spots, although I think my current situation in itself is almost stand alone. For those of you who may have older plugs, I can tell you I have no visible scarring or pitting from any of the punchout's...none. It actually removed the pitting from those that were punched out!.

Hi All, I sent Janna some pictures for her to post at one year post-op. The pictures were taken in bright room light with no flash. Pictures include hairline and top wet, hairline and top dry, right side dry and one of top with some gel in. I have to admit the pictures do not show my hair in a very flattering light. I am used to seeing my hair in normal room lighting. I still plan on returning to SMG in the coming months for pics/consult for one more procedure in the next 8 to 12 months.

Hello everybody! I will be driving to Shapiro Medical for a consult/pictures on July 21st. As I have posted before, I am considering one more procedure to address some small areas. In my pictures, my hair will be darker, as I have "low lights" done every other haircut. Over the past year, I have received many private messages about my results, in particular about scarring from the punch outs. If Janna wants to, I'll let her take extreme close-ups of the areas the punch outs were done to show that there is no scarring! Like every SMG patient, I'm happy with my results and my after care. I'll let my pictures speak for themselves.

I second that and your hair does look great and very natural. looking at those pictures it's hard to imagine you used to have the older plugs. Congrats dude;)

Thanks for keeping us all in the loop pal. Your story will be a great help to the thousands of people suffering out there with the older type plugs i'm sure.

Thanks Sparky and Bullitnut, my result looks better now at 17 months than it did at the one year mark. I had one massive shed in January that really thinned out my hair. I don't know if it was due to not using rogaine foam for my ten day hospital stay or the shock to my body from the surgery. I really hope my story helps even one person with the older plugs, they were a source of embarrassment and anxiety.

Hi Thincity,

Your hair is looking great, glad to hear its even better at 17 months.

The shed you experienced has a good chance to have been caused by your recent health issues. Hope you are making a full recovery.

I'll look forward to seeing your new pictures from SMG when you visit on the 21st,

All the best,

Bm.

Thanks Bigmac and Dazzster! I feel that the surgery, which was extensive, did shock my body. They also were giving me heparin shots in the abdomen every six hours. I read somewhere that these blood thinners can cause hair loss. Dazz, the hairline you see is my natural hairline. Dr. Ron transplanted behind it as he felt I would lose this native hair. At my initial consult, Dr. Ron commented on my hairline, saying "you have the hairline guys want me to give them". So far, it's remained and appears to have improved slightly. I do use Rogaine Foam in this area as well, so it could be helping me retain hair. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at SMG on the 21st!

PS. Dazz, your recent pics are amazing! You really got a "wow" result!

Hey dude,

Will you be having strip or FUE for the latest HT?

Hey BN, Probably strip, but I'm open to anything. I will let Dr. Ron judge what will be best for me. I have one scar that is not to great, due to past surgeries with Chambers. This trip is for pictures and evaluation only, my next surgery won't be until late February or early March.
