That looks pretty convincing to me, there's definitely an art to covering thinning areas.

Out of interest, why are you regretting not shaving completely? I'm hoping to have a partial shave so would be interested to know your experience regarding this.
So was I, although when I got there he explained that the frontal bit was thinning that much that it would make more sense to shave and fully do that area.

in honestly, when the front of my head was shaved i realised that if I’d have done the lot, it would have actually looked ok (a few days afterwards I asked if I could shave the lot!). As it is now there’s all kind of different lengths going on and I’m planning to shave the rest in line with the top, and go short at the sides next month.

Ultimately, I think it’s a case of writing off any semblance of a hair style for a few months and wearing hats. It’s surprisingly liberating not to have to spend time styling it in the morning. I think unless you’re having very small well defined areas done, then shaving is a much better option.

I'm sure you'll be glad you took their advice when you see the finished result and at least everybody's sporting dodgy haircuts at the moment.

I'll just have to see what they advise and go with that.

Your donor looks good with everything looking on track. You did a pretty good job with the concealer. I doubt anyone would have noticed anything on the zoom call. As for not shaving, depends on what you get done but for most, it is beneficial to shave it all off and let the hair grow back in uniform. Right now, you`re in the ugly duckling stage with the hair at different lengths. Your first haircut will feel good.

Week 8

slow progress and seems to be filling out on one side a lot quicker than the other. Relatively happy with where it is at 8 weeks. More little black hairs appearing and to the touch feels like there’s a fair amount of hair there. Roll on a haircut!

Nearly 9 weeks

Seems to be a bit of growth, although massive difference between left side and right. Right is some way behind. Hoping it catches up!

11 Weeks

First haircut this week. The barber started scissor cutting the back and sides, although we ended up going down to a grade 2 as it looked to have recovered well. Below photos are with fibres in the recipient area, still wearing a hat, although cool to see the hairline when fibres applied. Feels like progress. Months 2-3 have definitely been the hardest up until now.

At first look, I thought that was your growth at 11 weeks but see it`s with fibres in your hair. I used the fibres a lot during my pre op months. Your growth is beginning, it won't be too much longer before you can hopefully ditch the fibres.
Thanks for the update.

4 months 2 weeks

Hi guys,

I’m 4 months 2 weeks in. Would say months 3-4 were definitely the hardest. Got very conscious that I was always wearing a cap and avoiding certain social situations for that reason. Feels like the last 2 weeks there’s been a massive change and every day it seems it’s getting noticeably better. Was walking yesterday in the wind with zero concerns which reminded me why I did it in the first place. The whole process to this point has perhaps been mentally tougher than I expected although can honestly now say it’s absolutely been worth it and looking forward to seeing it getting better month on month from here.

Hi Topdog. I can see it’s improving with more growth although your pictures aren’t the greatest. Regaining your confidence back and not having a problem while out in the wind is good. These first few months will be a distant memory soon enough.

I looked at your before pictures but you had your hair styled to cover up the thin bits. At 5 months how does it compare to your hair before you had the ht?

Hi mate, I don’t think photos do it justice, but it’s x100 better. That was the worst light but can’t describe the difference at 5 months. Not in the slightest bit worried about wind, not ‘borrowing’ any from the side. So happy I did it.

That is a massive difference. That`s the first time I’ve heard the phrase not borrowing any from the side rather than combover which you most definitely don’t have anymore. It’s now a full wall of hair all the way across. (y)
