Your situation breaks my heart to read and although my hair is much better now I do know somewhat of where your coming from regarding how its affected you as I had many years under the cap too.

I also have found that hairloss definitely has an affect on what work a person can do if they are low in confidence and worried about the loss or what people will think....this is a 1000 times worse if you have had a bad transplant and look different because of it.

My own experience was bad regarding work too.

I did well at school and am what I consider fairly intelligent, but i feel I limited myself to factory work where I could wear a hat....even this was bad though because there comes a time when arriving or leaving work that your colleagues would question why you've always got a hat on outside of work.

I really do hope you get some resolution dude...god knows you deserve it for living so long unhappy.
It's so sad hear your story but there is always hope I lost my hair following illness and treatment. It made me feel not like a normal woman my husband said it didn't matter but it did to me. I've looked at all kinds of options and treatments I was tempted to try a Turkish transplant mainly due to cost but heard too many bad reports I looked at websites forums as though iam looking for a magic answer I found a decent site that goes on also about Turkey but still dont feel like trying they had a few other ideas and info I dont know if your allowed to post but I did find a lot of good info though whyhairgoes.com I also used to wear hats or scarfs until a child ( they always speak the truth) asked me do I wear a hat to cover my baldness I suppose it didn't cover that well and haven't worn anything since. Sometimes hiding makes it more obvious. I also wan to say how brave some are on here posting their pics I just would have the confidence at all well done to all that do.

Do you believe this is also true for lower NWs (NW2 and NW3)? My understanding was that this is generally true for higher NWs (up from NW5)

I don't know about the "pube" hair comment, but I don't recall ever saying anything different, albeit maybe not with the same language. Hair transplant surgery never gives back a full head of hair. It can be and is "see through" in many situations. This is why I have ALWAYS stated that there are different "sweet spots for length" as they determine how full or how thin one's result will appear. Scarring is unpredictable with 100% success. If anyone has ever paid attention, I, as well as Spex (I don't normally speak for others) have one underlying message. Surgery is the LAST resort. Once you are cut, there is no going back.

Personally, while I feel for Phil, I've nothing against his post and I think it is healthy, maybe for him to express, and for others to read.

I think we can all agree, poor surgery is far worse and disfiguring than any hair-loss, no matter how unpleasant that is also. We ourselves deal with many repair patients and they are in a far worse situation than had they done nothing and it is also why we do so much to educate. We are a small splash in a large pond, drowned out by glossy marketing often.

Repairs are usually far higher maintenance for a clinic with expectations a lot higher and the lack of often research in the offending first surgery can then be compensated with a lot of questions and very high expectations on the repairing clinic, with trust issues also thrown in. The donor often will be limited or decimated and there are scars in recipient and donor areas also to navigate and a lot of challenges.

Philw has well documented his case and in hindsight it is clear he regrets surgery and this is a reality and more so now than ever for many. I understood from a national post there was a repair happening for Philw but maybe I mis-understood it but it came across as such. If it is happening as seemed to be alluded to then sincerely all the best for it and I hope for significant improvement. I have never had surgery I was not happy with but I know I would not handle it well myself, it must be devastating.

I don't myself think bad cases negate all of the good ones and therefore we need to chuck out the whole industry, it is not simply the reality from my experience in the industry since 2009, but I do understand people talking from hurt and their own experiences.

Joe had very poor surgery from photos I saw many years ago, probably over 15 now. A soul destroying result and hard to imagine how it was handled. His repair has been to my eyes tremendous, we have never met in person but I think from the ample footage, photos, videos, interviews, it really does look incredible from the starting point and he deserves every happiness in it also. He enjoys his hair and that is evident and congratulations also for it.

Anyway, nice weekend to all and thanks to Brian for this forum also and how much he has given to so many with countless hours of emails, DM and calls that he does.

I know it can be very frustrating and distressing to see your hair falling out but being in a state of depression because of this is not a solution. While you're still in your home, refusing to go out because of hair loss, you must know that life is still going on. Life has not stopped so doing this won't stop your hair loss and your hair won't return.

So what do you need to do? If you've figured out that ok you are experiencing hair loss, take a step back and first look for a solution. Ok, I'm experiencing hair loss and I think it's because of this reason so I must visit a good hair doctor and a hair loss specialist.

I see many people who're not sure whether they are experiencing hair loss or just normal shedding, they start taking medications without consulting with a medical professional. Sometimes, these medications if not taken without proper consultation might cause a side effect too. And being on these medications or getting a hair transplant is not the only solution. There are doctors that use a holistic and integrative approach to hair and scalp health and the results are beyond good.

Therefore, being in depression is not a solution. Look for a good holistic hair doctor, search the internet, read reviews, book a consultation, and then visit him/her. I know the results might take some time based on the severity of hair loss, but I'm sure that this will be a long-term solution.

Thank you.

There is an article that can be found online entitled "Psychology of hairloss patients and the importance of counselling".

Here is a stunning excerpt:

"Some of the mild to severe symptoms of associated psychological problems with hair loss are: anxiety, anger, depression, embarrassment, decreased confidence, reduction in work and sexual performance, social withdrawal, and suicidal tendencies. These are similar to those usually seen with chronic and severe life-threatening diseases."

I finally, finally felt seen when I read these words. My jaw just hit the ground, and I finally realized the immensity of this condition's impact on my life.

When I first realized what was happening to me, it was like a light went out inside me.

Has anyone here pursued counselling over hairloss related depression?

I'm grateful there are avenues like this one, in which we can talk without restraint about the emotional and spiritual toll this condition took on our lives and self image.

I hope everyone out there can find a moment of peace today.
