are you on any meds? after my transplant I was on minoxidil, finasteride and a biotin a pill and found that my original hair grew crazy fast compared to my transplanted hair.

No medication or topical lotions!

I may start Minoxidil again though and use either Nizoral or Caffine (Alpercin) shampoo. I was told to stay clear of Propecia.

That's good re-your original hair - how long ago was this? what week post op are you?

So the original hair grows at the same speed as your new hair?c;;9

I was referring to this part of my original hair in the middle which may still be thinning not the donor apart.

I would definitely think about getting on some meds if I was you in order to steady your hairloss and maintain what you have.

I am 20 weeks post-op, I found that my original hair grew much faster than my transplanted hair....because of the medication I think.

hmm...I don't know. I have notice that my original hair (the island in the middle part at front) is not growing back as fast as usually does since the transplant and this could be because the frontal zone is still a little numb.

Hey super smooth why do you want to steer clear of propecia? I've been using it 13 years without any problems

I could not take the constant bloating and stomach pains after two weeks. I think you should try it and if you don't react to it in a positive way then just cut it out like i did

Just a quick update almost 3.5 months post surgery now.

The good news is that new hair is starting to grow and I am feeling relieved that it looks like it's beginning to work and that it's money well spent but it's still early days. You can follow my photos from the beginning! - To those who are thinking of having a HT - as soon as you hit week 12 (3 months) post surgery it really does thicken and grow faster and now it's looking thicker each day but hope I don't become too vain!!))N_):) The grown is not growing a back as quickly.

Just wondering about the new growing hairs ...I assume they would be as thick as the back? - Do they require special treatment because some are still fine and tiny and I am just worried that they will fall out? I also have some implanted hair that has yet to shed and is still shedding! Also even if some new hair which grows does fall out...will the follicle remain within the tissue?

Will the new hair grow at the same speed as my natural hair?

Attached a photo - not the best photo but you get the idea - you can see the gaps (temples) starting to fill in and can't wait to see the result and to feel more confident and do some cool hair styles. - Exciting times!

The implanted zone is still itchy but I notice the itchy part is actually where the implanted hairs are and haven't shed or have stalled. - I still have a few pimples at the back (crown) but hopefully they will go in due course.

The new hairs once they have come through and matured will grow same as the rest of your hair in terms of speed, Still very early days but good to see your feeling more confident and positive towards your HT.
Your new hair will go through cycles of shedding and growing like your native hair so if any of your new hair sheds in the future then yes it will regrow.

Thanks for the update.

Thanks. Just that I notice some finer hairs shedding but don't know if they are new transplanted hairs and if so i assume they will grow back as you said - and as i was told it's there for life and will be as thick as the back (donor). Perhaps, i keep forgetting it goes through a cycle so therefore must not panic if I see some new hairs shed.

Anyway, I have taken some selfies - sorry they are not in the best quality but just to give you and idea of the changes from week over the past few weeks commencing week 12 - Notice both sides of the frontal zones (temples) ....gradually looking thicker each week!? -Still best is yet to come!

Thank you! - My only slight concern is that there are still some fine hairs (not necessarily) transplanted hairs that are still falling out ....but there are some fine hairs in the implanted zone that looks like they are falling out, is this because some are at their different growth stages!? ALso one frontal side (left) looks less thick so hope this will fill in in due course. But looks like more and more are growing and now it's looking thicker day by day!

Look forward to the next few months. :::C

As you know I get worried! - Well we all worry from time to time, maybe I worry a little more! As from today I am four months post surgery!

I was combing my hair and saw some fine hairs shedding on the comb - are these newly transplanted fine hairs that are growing or are they old hairs? Look on my finger tips! Also noticed some stalled ones as you can see I have circled.

It doesn't look like anything serious mate. Hair follicles shed every single day whether you've had a HT or not. And whether you notice or not aswell (more so now because you're worried a bit). They grow back! Everything looks good with you mate. Nice progression so far!

Week 17 (4 months and 1 week)

As you can see - the growth starts from the 3rd month!!Still a bit anxious but excited and happy too! - The front is doing really well but the middle and crown is thinner and taking longer!!

Obviously there are light variations in the photos but I took these selfies from (roughly) the same angle and spot - same day every week!

Hey super smooth I'd be interested to see how your getting on? Judging by your progress and lack of interest in the forum I guess you have a full head of hair and are happy out! I hope so for you!
