Hair Transplant is a surgical technique that is used to treat Male and Female Pattern Baldness. It is a minimally invasive procedure, grafts containing hair follicles that are usually genetically resistant to DHT(thinning & dying) are taken from the safer donor area and transplanted to the thin or balding area of the scalp..
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). The individual removal of hair follicles in their naturally occurring groupings of 1-4 hairs. A FUE punch is used to scor a circular incision usually between 0.7 – 1mm in diameter, the graft containing the hairs are removed with forceps.
Follicular Unit transplant also known as FUT or Strip. A strip of skin is excised from the back and sides of the head in the safer donor zone area, this area consists of hairs that are usually resistant to DHT. The skin is then sutured or stapled together to close the gap. A popular method to close the gap is trichophytic closure which usually leaves the patient with a pencil line thin scar.
It`s normal to lose 50 to 100 hairs per day. If you are losing more than that there could be an underlying reason. The first step in finding out how to stop hair loss is to determine what’s causing it. While male pattern baldness is the leading cause of hair loss, there are many other causes, which include: stress, malnourishment, pregnancy, sleep deprivation, thyroid dysfunction, diabetes, telogen effluvium, lupus and certain drugs.
