Minoxidil

Minoxidil is a generic name for Rogaine or other brand versions.
Minoxidil solution and Rogaine Foam are used in the treatment of male pattern alopecia in men and female pattern alopecia in women. It is occasionally useful for other forms of alopecia, including alopecia areata.

Minoxidil was originally marketed in a tablet form for the treatment of high blood pressure. New Hair growth was one of the unforeseen side effects of this treatment. This resulted in producing a topical solution for treating hair loss. Topical Minoxidil (Rogaine) has been shown to stimulate hair growth In men, its most effective on the crown area, although it may work in the frontal zones as well.

Minoxidil or Rogaine be applied on the scalp at preferably twice daily for approximately six months to see results. It doesn’t work as well on people that have been bald for long periods of time. It should be applied to a normal dry scalp and left in place. It is for external use only.

Minoxidil or Rogaine normally induces new hair growth between 4 and 6 months of use. If it has not worked by 6 months it is probably not going to. There are no guarantees, you simply have to try it to see.

There is a possibility of unwanted side effects, such as skin irritation. If you suffer side effects cease use and seek a medical opinion.
