Thanks most kindly for your thoughts on my 4 months stage, which is a great help as you know what should be expected at each stage.... and of course we don't so its a harrowing experience - and thats why its so good that you comment on members posts Bigmac; thank you.

I'm pleased to see the progress of hair growth in the way you describe as early as 4 months which eases my nerves a bit, and of course now with a frontal third it really does make a difference to your appearance and makes you look younger!
On the top / mid scalp although I did have more existing hair there also seems to be growth but a bit patchier? - so does transplanted hair grow through at different rates even within the same area? - as I'm naturally hoping both front & mid/top will thicken up and become much denser and spread evenly in coverage.

The crown is still thin / sparse, however as I only went with a more conservative hairline to avoid any thinness at the crown I'm hoping that too will thicken up for similar denseness - I understand that the crown takes longer than the rest of scalp, which I therefore trust is the case…..

Having some reassurance from people who’ve been there and done it really helps patients like yourself. We all grow at different ratios, fast, average and slow.
I`d be pleased with your progress if I were you. 4 months is very earlier and to see a noticeable change as yours is great.
It is common for hair to grow back in an uneven pattern/different rates and nothing to be concerned about at this stage. All areas should even out in the coming months.
Results in the crown do take longer to show but it will happen. The angulation and direction of the grafts means the benefit is mainly seen when the hair has some length to it whereas shorter hair in the hairline and behind can look good at shorter lengths.

Yes it’s most reassuring Bigmac - I was surprised that even within the same square centimetre some transplanted hair would be present and other hair not even coming through as yet, so pleased to hear uneven pattern/ different growth rates is normal even with hairs right next to each other.

I’ve now had my first hair cut and was pleased that the scar isn’t that detectable as my hair is cut as short as I normally have it and thinking that in a few months when the scars completely healed that it won’t be seen, even now I think you’d have to be looking for it to see it - I’ll post some more pics when I’m able to, as I’m really pleased about this as I was concerned if I’d be able to wear my hair this short

Yes, many people worry about uneven growth but it is quite normal.
Having your hair cut does feel good. Everything tidied up gives you that clean look. It`s great to hear that the scar isn`t that detectable. Healing can take a few months but it sounds like you`ll have a nice donor closure.
I`ll look forward to seeing your next set of pictures.
All the best.
BM.

As per my last post here's the photos from my first hair cut taken just after 4 months from the transplant.... I've done close-ups of the sides and rear so you can see the FUT scar, which I felt isn’t that detectable even though my hair is cut as short as I normally have it - hoping with more healing time you won't be able to see the scar with my hair this length.

Hi Cooty. The growth has certainly kicked in for 4 months. It can clearly be seen with your new hairline and density increase on top. FUT scar area is looking very good. I don`t think anyone would notice anything if they were looking directly at you. There is plenty of time for it to improve more.

I did a quick comparison on your before and now. Great progress.

I am not seeing any scar. A fair amount of progress growth within the transplanted zone.

Hi Kevboy - good to hear from you and thanks for your comments. Also much appreciate the comparison photos Bigmac thanks, and lovely to hear that you both think the scar isn't that noticeable.
It was good to hear that hair growth is good for 4 months, and I feel that its increased quite a bit more since these last photos, although crown still much the same - I'll post more photos at my next haircut for a progress report.

What a transformation already @cooty !! :) Your new hairline frames your face very well! You picked a great surgeon(s). I am always impressed by their work. Really looking forward to seeing your progress. Happy growing!!

Thanks Edsam - very kind of you to comment, and glad that you think the hairline works for me..... as my transplanted hair is continuing to grow and thicken the hairline is looking better (appearance of being a bit lower as Dr Muresanu said it would) which I'm really pleased about. Also, I should've mentioned in my last post where my scar was commented on - that was one of the main reasons I went with Hattingen as their scars are so good being pencil thin and difficult to see... along with their great growth results that you mention - so fingers crossed it continues

Hattingen hair are one of the best with a long history of stellar results on this forum. One of the reasons they are in my top 2 choices.
You look awesome at this stage.

I think the hairline looks very good and is age appropriate @cooty. This will take years off you once you have the final result. I am always impressed by their work.

Good of you to say so aZee - as I wanted to make sure I got the best possible transplant I was considering the other top clinics until I found out about Hattingen and saw their results online which blew the others away and I would agree with you they're consistently mega - and of course I'm hoping mine will be too. Its so reassuring to get positive comments at this stage as I obviously don't know what is to be expected.... and the growth has continued since my last photos - so I have to say Edsam that I'm already well pleased with the effect of my hairline in my appearance even at this stage and I can't tell you how good it makes you feel about yourself..... so really looking forward to getting that final result in the next 6-9 months! Will post more photos soon. Thank you both so much for commenting (y)

Your donor looks good, the scar should continue improving. I think you'll be happy when you reach 12 months.
I’ll look forward to seeing the next round of pictures.

Photos five and a half months since transplant and 1 week after 2nd haircut. Cut at grade 6 so longer than last time but will reduce grades on future cuts so to see how short I can go before seeing scar. Let hair dry naturally with just 4-5 gentle pats of towel to prevent it dripping so you can see it without it being touched / combed etc.

It`s looking good Cooty. That whole bald frontal area is now covered and you have a hairline you can style. That in itself must give you a feel-good factor. 5.5 months is still early too, there's plenty of time for more growth and maturing of the hair.
Your scar I like. It looks to be improving all the time and you have grafts growing through the scar tissue which will help it fade away into your surrounding hair.
Without seeing your face I'd guess that the new look has already made you look younger and given you more confidence.
Really pleased for you and your progress.
All the best.

Thanks Dazzster, Bigmac - yes I'm most pleased to have a hairline now, although I'm finding I can't style it - I don't know if this is due to the stage its at but unlike the photos showing it laying flatter it actually tends to stick upright all along the hairline.... as its 5.5 months do the hairs continue to grow / thicken up themselves - and would this make the hairline weightier so it will lay flatter naturally? or is it the angle its been put in at?

Comforting that 5.5 months is still early and hope you are right Dazzster that new hair will be coming through and it will thicken (fingers crossed). Aswell as the crown that needs to fill in, the corners at the front need to thicken too - you can see in the shots from above the 'corners' where the new hairline recedes back to meet the existing hair as that seems to be quite light in density there and of course need it thicker to style the front all along the hairline.

The grafts do continue to mature while going through the growth cycles. Hairline grafts are forward facing at a certain angle. This link shows the angle hairline angles
I`m pretty sure yours will be ok in another few months. If a graft is placed in an incision pointing upwards, it will grow upwards, so getting the incision angle correct is very important.
5.5 months is very early. We have all seen the amazing results at this timeframe and wish we could achieve the same but reality is, most people don’t.
Yours is growing in at a nice steady pace.

Thats very good of you to search for a hairline angle picture for me Bigmac - we think mine are at that angle and so hoping my hairline is ok in time like you say, its just that presently unless I pat them down the hairs along the front stand upwards (not really upright), but if the maturing of the grafts involve the hair shafts getting thicker then I suspect they'll weigh the hair down.... think that may be the case as the hairs seem quite fine still as I can't style them. So 5.5months is most probably too premature to judge it as from what you say it appears that my hair coverage is quite advanced for this stage which I didn't really appreciate........ but obviously really pleased that this may be the case :)

Thank you as always for your commitment to all people on this forum - the information you provide for individuals is of value to all readers.... This is without doubt the best forum out there and has the most impartial, knowledgeable and balanced advice.
